Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of Combined Ultrasound-Guided Steroid Injection and Splinting in Patients With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To compare the effectiveness of local steroid injection plus splinting with that of local steroid injection alone using clinical and electrophysiological parameters in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). ⋯ In people with CTS, steroid injection combined with splinting resulted in modestly greater reduction of symptoms, superior functional recovery, and greater improvement in nerve function at 12-week follow-up as compared with steroid injection alone. However, these small differences are of unclear clinical significance.

Ultrasound-Guided Pulsed Radiofrequency Stimulation of Posterior Tibial Nerve: A Potential Novel Intervention for Recalcitrant Plantar Fasciitis.
To evaluate the therapeutic benefit of ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) stimulation at the posterior tibial nerve (PTN) in patients with recalcitrant plantar fasciitis (PF). ⋯ This study shows that ultrasound-guided PRF stimulation at the PTN is effective for treating recalcitrant PF. This simple, reproducible method could be a novel strategy for managing recalcitrant PF.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Unmodulated 5-kHz Alternating Currents Versus Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation on Mechanical and Thermal Pain, Tactile Threshold, and Peripheral Nerve Conduction: A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Crossover Trial.
To investigate the effect of unmodulated 5-kHz alternating current on mechanical pain threshold (MPT), heat pain threshold (HPT), tactile threshold (TT), and peripheral nerve conduction (PNC) compared with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and sham stimulation. ⋯ Unmodulated 5-kHz current produced an increase in somatosensory thresholds that was greater than placebo but not when compared with TENS; however, participants perceived 5-kHz currents to be more comfortable and showed more habituation to them.

Living With Chronic Pain After Spinal Cord Injury: A Mixed-Methods Study.
To identify the relative importance of positive (facilitators) and negative (barriers) contributors to living with chronic pain after spinal cord injury (SCI). ⋯ This study revealed multiple facilitators and barriers to living with chronic pain after SCI. The principal barrier, "poor health care communication," indicated that consumers do not receive adequate information from their health care providers regarding pain. "Information regarding pain and treatments" had greater agreement scores and factor loadings than all other facilitators, indicating that most participants view provider-patient communication and educational efforts regarding pain and pain management as priorities and critical needs. Further initiatives in these areas are important for improving pain management post-SCI.

Comparative StudyPolydeoxyribonucleotide Injection in the Treatment of Chronic Supraspinatus Tendinopathy: A Case-Controlled, Retrospective, Comparative Study With 6-Month Follow-Up.
To determine the efficacy of polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) injection for rotator cuff disease (RCD). ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first study to assess the efficacy of PDRN injection for patients with RCD. The PDRN injection group showed improvement in pain and subjective disability in patients with RCD and continued to show improvement for 3 months thereafter; the PDRN injection can be an optional treatment for patients with chronic RCD who show no response to other treatments.
