Observational StudyQuality of life primary aldosteronism: A prospective observational study.
Previous studies suggested that patients affected by primary aldosteronism (PA) have impaired quality of life (QOL) compared to the general population, but a direct comparison with patients affected by essential hypertension (EH) has never been performed. The aim of the study was to compare the QOL of patients affected by PA to the QOL of patients affected by EH. ⋯ Patients with PA have impaired QOL, which is likely caused by uncontrolled hypertension and the effects of intensive antihypertensive treatment. Surgical and medical treatment of PA allows a significant improvement of QOL, by amelioration of blood pressure control and, after surgical treatment, by reduction of antihypertensive treatment.

Review Meta AnalysisPlatelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and prognosis in STEMI: a meta-analysis.
Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a haematological index which reflects increased level of inflammation and thrombosis. We aimed to summarize the potential prognostic role of PLR for the in-hospital and long-term outcomes in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) in a meta-analysis. ⋯ Higher PLR predicts poor in-hospital and long-term prognosis in STEMI patients after pPCI.

Review Meta AnalysisDirect oral anticoagulants and advanced liver disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are recommended for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or for treatment of deep vein thrombosis, although some concerns about safety and efficacy were raised on the use of these drugs in patients with advanced liver disease (ALD). We want to investigate the association of DOACs use with the bleeding and ischaemic risk. ⋯ DOACs are associated with a lower incidence of bleeding and may be an attractive therapeutic option in patients with cirrhosis.

Review Meta AnalysisPrognostic value of cystatin C in patients with acute coronary syndrome:A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Circulating cystatin C has been considered as an independent predictor of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in the general population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of baseline circulating cystatin C levels in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through meta-analysis. ⋯ Our meta-analysis showed that high cystatin C levels were significantly associated with the death risk and MACE in ACS patients. Therefore, cystatin C can be included in the risk stratification model to guide the treatment of high-risk ACS patients.
