Review Meta AnalysisSingle versus dual antiplatelet therapy following percutaneous left atrial appendage closure-A systematic review and meta-analysis.
In the last few years, percutaneous LAA occlusion (LAAO) has become a plausible alternative in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with contraindications to anticoagulation therapy. Nevertheless, the optimal antiplatelet strategy following percutaneous LAAO remains to be defined. ⋯ Among AF patients at high bleeding risk undergoing percutaneous LAAO, a post-procedural minimalistic antiplatelet strategy with SAPT did not significantly differ from DAPT regimens regarding the rate of stroke, DRT and major bleeding.

The ABCG8 polymorphism increases the risk of gallbladder cancer in the general population and gallstones in obese patients from Poland.
Gallstone disease (GD) is common but remains asymptomatic in most cases. However, gallstones can lead to complications like choledocholithiasis or gallbladder cancer. In this study, we analyse the common genetic risk factor for GD, the p.D19H variant in the sterol transporter ABCG8, in Polish patients with gallstones and gallbladder cancer. ⋯ The ABCG8 p.D19H common risk variant increases the risk of developing gallbladder cancer in Central Europeans and enhances the risk of gallstones in the obese. Carriers of the p.D19H variant might benefit from personalized preventive strategies, particularly regarding gallbladder cancer.

miR-619-5p and cardiogenic shock in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is a severe myocardial dysfunction secondary to various cardiac conditions including ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI) and associated with a high risk of death. Little is known on epigenetic determinants in CS. Here, we investigated plasma miRNAs in relation to CS stratification in STEMI-patients. ⋯ Up-regulation of miR-619-5p is found in the plasma of STEMI-patients with CS and mortality outcome. These findings highlight the specificity of epigenetic regulation of inflammation on the disease severity of MI.

Long noncoding RNA ANRIL alleviates hypoxia-induced pulmonary microvascular endothelial cell damage.
High-altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE) is a form of noncardiogenic pulmonary oedema. Studies have found that long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) plays an important role in HAPE. ANRIL is significant in pulmonary illnesses, which implies that alterations in ANRIL expression levels may be involved in the beginning and development of HAPE. However, the specific mechanism is indistinct. The present study is meant to explore the effect and mechanism of ANRIL on hypoxic-induced injury of pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (PMEVCs). ⋯ Our study suggests that ANRIL may prevent hypoxia injury to PMVECs in HAPE through the negative regulation of miR-181c-5p.

Cell-type specific molecular expression levels by restricted-dimensional cytometry.
Cytometric analysis has been commonly used to delineate distinct cell subpopulations among peripheral blood mononuclear cells by the differential expression of surface receptors. This capability has reached its apogee with high-dimensional approaches such as mass cytometry and spectral cytometry that include simultaneous assessment of 20-50 analytes. Unfortunately, this approach also engenders significant complexity with analytical and interpretational pitfalls. ⋯ Restricted-dimensional cytometry can provide a complementary approach to define characteristics of cell-type specific intracellular protein and phosphoantigen expression in mononuclear cells.
