This paper describes the application of individual customized 3-dimensional (3D) printed macro-porous Ti6Al4 V shoulder prosthesis in the revision of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) for the patient with severe bone defects. ⋯ The application of customized 3D printed titanium alloy shoulder prosthesis in the revision of TSA achieves satisfactory results. It provides a novel method for the similar revision surgery with severe bone defects.

Comparison of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors and pioglitazone combination therapy versus pioglitazone monotherapy in type 2 diabetes: A system review and meta-analysis.
Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor and pioglitazone combination therapy have been widely used for patients with inadequate glycemic control on monotherapy. This meta-analysis assessed the efficacy and safety of this combination therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ DPP-4 inhibitor and pioglitazone combination therapy provided better glycemic control, both according to HbA1c and FPG levels, than pioglitazone monotherapy. Safety analysis showed well tolerance of combination therapy, even in hypoglycemic and edema AEs. However, additional large-scale, high quality, long-term follow-up clinical trials are necessary to confirm its long-term effectiveness.

Influence of magnesium sulfate on hemodynamic responses during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies.
The impact of magnesium sulfate on hemodynamic responses during laparoscopic cholecystectomy remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of magnesium sulfate on hemodynamic responses for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Magnesium sulfate can reduce blood pressure, but with the increase in extubation time for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Chinese herbal medicine for dyslipidemia: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Dyslipidemia is commonly characterized by the abnormal quantity and quality of lipids in plasma, which is strongly associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and also a major cause of morbidity and even leads to mortality. In China and East Asia, Chinese herbal medicine has been widely used to treat diverse diseases for thousands of years. As an important means of traditional Chinese medicine treatment, Chinese herbal medicine plays a more important role in the treatment of dyslipidemia. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine for dyslipidemia. ⋯ PROSPERO (CRD42018085556).

Changes in our lifestyle over the past few decades have led to a significant increase in the worldwide prevalence of both overweight (defined as a body mass index [BMI]≥25 kg/m) and obesity (BMI≥30 kg/m), thus leading to numerous harmful consequences for an individual's health. Several meta-analyses support the link between obesity and different gastrointestinal cancers, but substantial heterogeneity exists between studies. We will synthesize published systematic reviews to evaluate the association between body mass index (BMI) and the incidence and mortality of different gastrointestinal cancers. ⋯ Only published secondary data will be used in this study, and therefore ethics approval is not required.PROSPERO registration number: CRD42018107334.
