Role of SH2B3 R262W gene polymorphism and risk of coronary heart disease: A PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis.
More susceptibility genes have been proved to be associated with coronary heart disease (CHD). The goal of our study is to evaluate the association between the R262W polymorphism of SH2B3 gene and risk of CHD. ⋯ The R262W polymorphism is associated with risk of CHD or MI in Europeans, but not in Asians.

Enhanced recovery care versus traditional care following laminoplasty: A retrospective case-cohort study.
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) has been shown to shorten length of hospital stay and reduce perioperative complications in many types of surgeries. However, there has been a paucity of research examining the application of ERAS to major spinal surgery. The current study was performed to compare complications and hospital stay after laminoplasty between an ERAS group and a traditional care group. ⋯ Pain control was better in the ERAS group than traditional care group in terms of mean VAS score (2.72 ± 0.46 vs. 3.35 ± 0.46, P < .001) and mean maximum VAS score (3.76 ± 1.12 vs. 4.35 ± 1.15, P < .001) in 3 days after surgery. The morbidity rate was 21.05% (24 of 114 patients) in the ERAS group and 20.90% (23 of 110 patients) in the control group (P = .75). The ERAS protocol is both safe and feasible for patients undergoing laminoplasty, and can decrease the length of postoperative hospitalization without increasing the risk of complications.

Prolactinomas affect patients' quality of life and even endanger lives. The study aimed to investigate the effect of the endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach (EETA) on 52 patients with prolactinomas. ⋯ The results of this study demonstrated that tumor size, preoperative PRL levels, and invasion of adenomas represent independent factors that can affect the success of surgery. The results suggested that EETA represents a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of patients with prolactinoma with high remission rates and low complication rates. Therefore, EETA should be considered a primary treatment for patients with prolactinomas who are not responsive to treatment with medical therapy.

Alternative strategies to improve success rate of mitral isthmus block.
Achieving bidirectional conduction block (BDB) across the mitral isthmus (MI) is technically challenging. We describe our experience using different ablation strategies for achieving successful MI block. We reviewed the records of patients who had undergone MI ablation for peri-mitral (PM) flutter at our institution from January 2010 to May 2015. ⋯ In conclusion, single endocardial MI line with or without distal CS ablation showed limited success for achieving MI block. Additional substrate modifications such as a new MI line ablation, anterior line ablation, or ablation targeting the VOM may improve the success rate of PMB block. However, the benefits of PMB were not clear in this study.

The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of Endostar and temozolomide or dacarbazine plus 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in patients with advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs). Phase II study of 14 patients with locally advanced or metastatic well-differentiated pNETs treated between April 2013 and September 2016. Patients received temozolomide or dacarbazine plus 5-FU, and Endostar. ⋯ The most common grade 1/2 toxicities were neutropenia (43%) and leucopenia (21%). Endostar combined with temozolomide or dacarbazine + 5-FU was effective in the treatment of advanced pNETs. The combinations were well tolerated.
