Allergic rhinitis is a major chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract. A large number of epidemiological investigations have shown that the prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR) is increasing, resulting in a large burden of disease. Desensitizing drugs such as nasal glucocorticoids and antihistamines are commonly used to treat allergic rhinitis, but this method has a long treatment period and is prone to repeated attacks, and there are certain adverse reactions. Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of diseases including allergic rhinitis without the occurrence of drug damage. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42018109105.

Facial paralysis as a presenting symptom of infant leukemia: A case report and literature review.
Facial paralysis as the initial clinical presentation of infant leukemia (IL) is rare, and the rate of its misdiagnosis is high. Identifying the clinical characteristics of IL with facial paralysis as the initial symptom is necessary to improve the understanding of the causes of facial paralysis and IL. ⋯ The clinical symptoms of IL with facial paralysis are not typical, with a high rate of misdiagnosis. When the cause of facial paralysis is unknown or the advance treatment effect is poor, tumor diseases should be considered. Corticosteroids should be carefully administered to children with facial paralysis.

Aggressive angiomyxoma (AAM) of the prostate should be considered as a differential diagnosis for prostatic tumor presenting with classical symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy. ⋯ AAM of the prostate should be considered a possible cause of urinary difficulty, including retention, although this may be extremely rare. A reliable diagnosis and complete tumor removal enabled optimal treatment and prevention of tumor recurrence.

Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a rare systemic inflammatory disorder in which inflammasome activation plays a pathophysiological role. In view of the inflammatory nature of AOSD, we investigated whether serum amyloid A (SAA) gene polymorphisms affect the susceptibility of patients with AOSD. Eighty-seven Japanese patients with AOSD and 200 healthy Japanese subjects were recruited in this study. ⋯ AOSD patients with MEFV variants frequently exhibit macrophage activation syndrome, but the difference was not significant (34.7% versus 18.4%, P = .081). Also, there was no significant difference in SAA1 -13C/T allele frequency between AOSD patients with and without MEFV mutations. Our data shows a significant association between T allele of rs12218 and AOSD in Japanese population.

Discrepancy between perfusion- and diffusion-weighted images in ischemic stroke: A case report.
With the development of multi-slice computed tomography (CT) technology, perfusion CT angiography (p-CTA) is now widely used for the diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction. Although p-CTA has the advantage of distinguishing between an ischemic penumbra and an infarct core, more research is needed with respect to its clinical use. ⋯ This case report suggests that dynamic image changes can occur within a short period of time depending on the vascular status and hemodynamic changes of the patients.
