The critically ill and surgical patients are at significant risk of delirium, which is associated with a high morbidity and mortality. The association between statin use and the incidence of delirium is still controversial. In this article, we will perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies to evaluate the effectiveness of statins for the prophylaxis of delirium among critically ill and surgical patients. ⋯ The systematic review and meta-analysis will provide convincing evidence concerning the effect of statins against delirium in critically ill and surgical patients.

Review Meta Analysis
The diagnostic role of miR-122 in drug-induced liver injury: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a potentially severe adverse drug reaction especially in susceptible patients. But there are no sensitive or specific parameters to detecting DILI. The specific expression of miR-122 in the liver has been a hotspot in the evaluation of hepatic toxicity due to its high stability and sensitivity. ⋯ In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we found miR-122 have a high specificity in DILI, and a modest positive diagnostic effects. On the basis of the limited evidence, further research is needed to evaluate the long-term observation and more clinical data to testify miR-122 in diagnosing DILI.

Fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) provides an analgesic option for positioning before spinal anesthesia in patients suffering from a femur fracture. The evidence supporting FICB is still not well established. The aim of our study is to assess the efficacy and safety of FICB comparing with intravenous analgesic (IVA) on the quality for positioning before spinal anesthesia in participants with a femur fracture. ⋯ Three studies comprising 141 participants showed that FICB compared to IVA led to a significant between-group standard mean differences in quality during positioning within 30 minutes before spinal anesthesia (standardized mean difference (SMD) -2.02, 95% confidence interval (CI): -2.43 to -1.61, I = 0%) and time for spinal anesthesia (pooled mean difference (PMD) -2.86 minutes, 95% CI -3.70 to -2.01, I = 0%). Two studies with 101 participants suggested that FICB is superior to IVA on opioid requirements 24 hours postoperatively (pooled odds ratio (POR): 0.11, 95% CI: 0.03 to 0.35, I = 13%). There were no significant differences in complications or hemodynamic effects CONCLUSIONS:: Comparing with IVA, FICB can provide significantly better quality during positioning of femur fracture patients for a spinal block and a shorter time for spinal anesthesia. FICB is safe method.

As the exact pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is not known, there is increasing evidence of clinical trials and animal models that indicate the beneficial effects of probiotics. ⋯ Some types of probiotics, such as E coli Nissle 1917 and VSL#3, could be used as alternative therapy for patients with IBD.

Review Case Reports
Synovial chondromatosis of the hip joint in childhood: A case report and literature review.
Pain in the hip joint is a common symptom in children. The common diseases leading to pain in the hip joint in children include transient synovitis of the hip, septic arthritis of the hip, and Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. ⋯ When the pediatric orthopedic surgeon treats the children suffered with hip pain the surgeon should be aware of this rare disease.
