Meta Analysis
Glutathione-S-transferases M1/T1 gene polymorphisms and male infertility risk in Chinese populations: A meta-analysis.
A meta-analysis was applied to evaluate the associations between the glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) M1/T1 gene polymorphisms and male infertility in Chinese populations. ⋯ Our meta-analysis supports that the GSTM1/GSTT1 null genotype might contribute to individual susceptibility to male infertility in Chinese populations.

Fecal incontinence is a socially and emotionally destructive condition that has a negative impact on personal image, self-confidence, and quality of life. Acupuncture is commonly used to treat chronic conditions, including fecal incontinence. However, no relevant systematic review or meta-analysis has been designed to evaluate the effects of acupuncture on fecal incontinence. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42019119680.

DNA methylation markers have been assessed as potential biomarkers for early cervical cancer detection. Herein, we evaluated the diagnostic performance of zinc finger protein 582 (ZNF582) methylation for cervical cancer detection. ⋯ ZNF582 methylation has a prospect to be an auxiliary biomarker for cervical cancer screening. A new strategy of co-testing HPV DNA and ZNF582 methylation test in cervical scrapings confers an improved diagnostic accuracy than single HPV DNA testing.

Although published studies have reported the association between MTHFR C677T (rs 1801133), A1298C (rs 1801131), and MTRR A66G (rs1801394) polymorphisms and male infertility in Asian populations, the results are conflicting. In order to accurately evaluate the relevance, a meta-analysis was performed. We searched for potential studies in 4 databases, containing PubMed, ScienceDirect, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang database until May 31, 2018. ⋯ Stratified analyses by geographical location and source of controls showed the same results. Sensitivity analyses indicated that the final consequences of this meta-analysis were stable, and the publication biases test had not found obvious asymmetry. This meta-analysis indicates that MTHFR C677T, A1298C, and MTRR A66G polymorphisms are the risk factors with susceptibility to male infertility in Asians.

Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that leptin is associated to the tumorigenesis and progression of breast cancer (BC). However, these studies remain inconsistent. Thus, a meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the role of leptin in the patients with BC. ⋯ The present meta-analysis suggests that the serum leptin may profiles as a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and metastasis of BC. In addition, leptin will provide useful information for a therapeutic target to treat BC.
