Chinese medicine injections (CMIs) are extensively applied to the therapy of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) in mainland China. Up to 13 different kinds of CMIs are reportedly often used for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, yet, rarely head to head comparison of tests are used to decide the relative consequent among the distinct CMIs. Network meta-analysis (NMA) will be performed to further compare the effects of 13 different CMI, including direct and indirect comparisons of different CMI. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD 42019132955.

Infected necrotizing pancreatitis (INP), the leading cause of mortality in the late phase of acute pancreatitis, nearly always requires intervention. In recent years minimal invasive surgery is becoming more and more popular for the management of INP, but few studies compared different minimally invasive strategies. The objective of this observation study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness with several minimal invasive treatment. ⋯ SIAPRD remedy evidently improved outcomes, including systemic inflammatory response syndrome, number of interventions, length of hospital stay and overall cost. It is technically feasible, safe, and effective for INP, in contrast to others, and can achieve the best clinical results with the least cost. Furthermore, relevant multicentre randomized controlled trials are eager to prove these findings.

To develop clinical nomograms for prediction of overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with stage IV tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) after surgery based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program database. We collected data of resected stage IV TSCC patients from the SEER database, and divided them into the training set and validation set by 7:3 randomly. Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression analysis were adopted to distinguish independent risk factors for OS and CSS. ⋯ As for CSS, corrected C-indices were 0.708 in the training set and 0.663 in the validation set. The established nomograms in this study exhibited good accuracy and effectiveness to predict 3-year and 5-year probabilities of OS and CSS in resected stage IV TSCC patients. They are useful tools to evaluate survival outcomes and helped choose appropriate treatment strategies.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a highly invasive tumor caused primarily by asbestos exposure. In recent decades, the incidence of MPM has shown an increasing trend, posing a great threat to human health. Although there is currently no effective way to treat MPM, patients can survive for more than 5 years if the tumor is removed early. Several systematic reviews (SRs) have evaluated the diagnostic value of biomarkers for diagnosing MPM. However, no studies have been conducted to analyze the quality of these SRs and it remains unclear which biomarker is the excellent diagnostic test. This study aims to assess the methodological quality of the SRs and reanalyze the published data based on SRs to find the optimal biomarker for the early diagnosis of MPM. ⋯ CRD42019125880.

Chronic urticaria (CU) is a common and easily recurring skin disease in the world. Many trials have shown that autologous whole-blood or autologous serum acupoint injection therapy is effective in treating CU. There is currently no systematic review of this therapy. The program aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of this therapy in patients with CU. ⋯ CRD42019128364.
