Prolonged lumbosacral pain as the initial presentation in acute lymphoblastic leukemia in an adult: A case report.
The differential diagnosis of conditions manifesting as bone and joint pain is complex. Although many individuals with acute leukemia experience bone pain, lumbosacral pain as an early feature of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is rare. ⋯ This case illustrates that prolonged lumbosacral pain may be a symptom of a life-threatening condition, rather than only attributable to chronic inflammation or disk herniations. Therefore, clinicians need to pay attention to subtle differences in the clinical presentation of patients with lumbosacral pain.

Clinical application of RNA sequencing in sarcoma diagnosis: An institutional experience.
Accurate diagnoses of sarcoma are sometimes challenging on conventional histomorphology and immunophenotype. Many specific genetic aberrations including chromosomal translocations have been identified in various sarcomas, which can be detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization and polymerase chain reaction analysis. Next-generation sequencing-based RNA sequencing can screen multiple sarcoma-specific chromosome translocations/fusion genes in 1 test, which is especially useful for sarcoma without obvious differentiation. ⋯ Interestingly, three SS18 fusion genes (SS18-SSX2B, SS18-SSX2, and SS18-SSX4) were identified in a synovial sarcoma case. A rare fusion gene (EWSR1-PATZ1) was identified in a morphologically challenging case; which enabled us to establish the diagnosis of low grade glioneural tumor. In conclusion, RNA sequencing on FFPE specimen is a reliable method in establishing the diagnosis of sarcoma in daily practice.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia disease that can cause thromboembolic disease and/or heart failure, resulting in increased mortality. Propafenone, amiodarone, and flecainide are recommended for converting AF to sinus rhythm. Beta blockers, verapamil, diltiazem, and digoxin are recommended for controlling AF with fast ventricular rate (VR). In this case report, we found that verapamil successfully converted AF into sinus rhythm. ⋯ For the treatment of AF, nondihydropyridine calcium antagonists can be tried in the absence of antiarrhythmic drugs.

Primary hepatic melanoma: A case report of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings.
Malignant melanoma predominantly develops in middle-aged and older adults, most commonly occurring on the skin and rarely on internal organs. Malignant melanoma originating in the liver is extremely rare. Imaging findings of primary hepatic melanoma (PHM) are scarce in relevant literature. ⋯ To our best knowledge, this is the first reported case of a PHM with complete imaging data, including preoperative CT and MRI examinations and a follow-up CT examination. From compiling the CT and MRI findings of this patient and those of relevant studies, this study can serve as a reference for the preoperative diagnosis and differential diagnosis of PHM.

The placenta membranacea (PM) is a rare type of placental abnormality, which is associated with placenta previa, antepartum hemorrhage (APH), postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), chorioamnionitis, fetal growth restriction (FGR), preterm birth even stillbirth. The purpose of this case report is to summarize the characteristics and analyze the relevant factors of PM. ⋯ High-resolution color Doppler ultrasound apparatus can improve the diagnostic accuracy, and close antenatal surveillance followed by proper arrangement of delivery may improve neonatal outcomes.
