In Korea, low back pain (LBP) which is occupation-related symptom is one of the major health issues owing to rapid industrialization. Even traditional Korean medicine has the long history in pain treatment, there still has been lack of supporting evidence on herbal prescription itself. Sogyeonghwalhyeol-tang, a Korean herbal medicine prescription, has been suggested as a medication for treating chronic LBP as well as work-related pains. ⋯ The result of this study will provide the valuable information for efficacy and safety of Sogyeonghwalhyeol-tang for patients with work-related chronic LBP.

Colchicine can inhibit cell division and intracellular transport in affected organs by fixing intracellular tubulin and preventing its polymerization into microtubules. A lethal dose of colchicine is considered to be 0.8 mg/kg. The wide distribution of colchicine through 70% of the body following an overdose makes it difficult to eliminate. ⋯ Excessive colchicine levels cause continuous organ damage due to extensive tissue distribution, eventually leading to multiple organ failure. Colchicine metabolism is delayed in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, and even a low dose of colchicine may result in poisoning in these individuals. Early diagnosis and reduction of colchicine levels is critical to improve prognosis, and colchicine poisoning should be considered in patients with poor liver or kidney function even when the ingested dose is low.

Loss of guidewire and its sequelae after central venous catheterization: A case report.
Central venous catheterization is a common tool used to monitor central venous pressure and administer fluid medications in patients undergoing surgery. The loss of a broken guide wire into the circulation is a rare and preventable complication. Here, we report a peculiar case of a missed guidewire puncturing the aortic arch and cerebrum. ⋯ The loss of a guide wire is a completely preventable complication, provided that a hold on the tip of the wire is maintained during placement, and the correct safety measurements and protocols are followed.

Observational Study
Evaluation of β-endorphin concentration, mood, and pain intensity in men with idiopathic hip osteoarthritis treated with variable magnetic field.
Osteoarthritis is the most frequently diagnosed disease of the musculoskeletal system. Growing number of patients waiting for surgical treatment and the possible negative consequences resulting from long-term pharmacological therapy lead to the search for non-pharmacological methods aimed at alleviating pain and reducing doses of analgesics, among them physical therapy with use of magnetic fields. The study involved 30 men aged 49 to 76 (mean age, 61.7 years) treated for idiopathic osteoarthritis of the hip joint. ⋯ Significant reduction in intensity of perceived pain was observed in both groups of patients (P < .05). In the group of patients who underwent magnetoledtherapy cycle, the analgesic drug use was significantly lower by 13% (P < .05) as compared with initial values, which was not noted in group of patients who underwent magnetostimulation procedures. The use of magnetic field therapy in the treatment of men with idiopathic osteoarthritis of hip joints causes a statistically significant increase in the concentration of plasma β-endorphins resulting in statistically significant analgesic effect in both magnetostimulation and magnetoledtherapy treated groups of patients, with accompanying decrease of need for analgetic drugs in magnetoledtherapy group, but without any significant changes regarding the patient's mood.

Dapagliflozin, a novel inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2), lowers blood glucose level by specifically inhibiting the activity of SGLT-2. Previous studies showed efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin combined with other antihyperglycemic agents in type 2 diabetes (T2DM), however, there are few studies for dapagliflozin as monotherapy. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin as a monotherapy in T2DM and provide theoretical basis for clinical rational use of drugs. ⋯ Dapagliflozin monotherapy was well tolerated and effective in reducing the level of HbA1c, FPG, and body weight in patients with T2DM without increasing hypoglycaemia, although it may increase the risk of urinary tract infections and genital tract infections. This meta-analysis provides an evidence for the treatment in patients with T2DM. However, more randomized clinical evidences are still needed to verify the results.
