Meta Analysis
Prognostic role of high TET1 expression in patients with solid tumors: A meta-analysis.
Recently, increased expression of TET1 has been shown to inhibit tumor development in many studies. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted to assess the prognostic role of TET1 in solid tumors. ⋯ This meta-analysis displays that high expression levels of TET1 in tissues is significantly associated with better survival in patients with solid tumors. This finding can be used as evidence to the tone that TET1 may be a useful target for the treatment of patients with solid tumors in the future.

Review Case Reports Observational Study
Central nervous system aspergillosis in immunocompetent patients: Case series and literature review.
The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of central nervous system (CNS) aspergillosis in immunocompetent patients. This study enrolled six immunocompetent patients diagnosed with CNS aspergillosis. Additionally, we reviewed the clinical profiles for 28 cases reported in the literature. ⋯ Parenchymal aspergillosis lesions are usually localized and manifest as brain abscesses with annular enhancement on magnetic resonance imaging. Biopsy, CSF culture, and next-generation sequencing are mainstream diagnostic modalities. Voriconazole is an effective treatment for Aspergillus infection, and early diagnosis and treatment should be highlighted.

Review Case Reports
Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML)-0 with pleural effusion as first manifestation: A case report.
Extramedullary invasion of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) usually occurs in the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes, while the pleural infiltration of CMML is rare. The presence of pleural effusion is usually associated with uncontrolled leukocytosis and increased monocytes. ⋯ The current case indicated that leukemic infiltration into pleura could occur despite mild leukocytes, while demethylation may be an effective therapy.

Malignant cutaneous epithelial tumors comprise various skin malignancies originating from the cutaneous epithelium, including cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and malignant cutaneous adnexal tumors. Treatment options are limited, as the rarity of these tumors, especially among Asians, renders well-controlled clinical trials extremely challenging to conduct. Thus, we designed a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the anti-programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody nivolumab in patients with metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas and other rare metastatic cutaneous epithelial tumors. ⋯ This is the first phase 2 clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of the PD-1 inhibitor nivolumab in Asian patients with metastatic malignant cutaneous epithelial tumors. The findings of the study will contribute to the development of novel treatment approaches for patients with rare cutaneous malignancies, which remains an unmet clinical need.

Case Reports
Bilateral vertebral artery dissection complicated by posterior circulation stroke in a young man: A case report.
Vertebral artery dissection (VAD) is a common cause of stroke in young and mid-aged adults without predisposing risk factors for vascular disease. It can be induced by a particular head or neck posture; its early signs often include headache and neck pain. Improved imaging techniques can be used to detect VAD, whose current treatment options are limited. ⋯ VAD should be taken into consideration in differential diagnosis of posterior circulation stroke or transient ischemic attack in young patients. Intravenous thrombolytic therapy may be safe and effective for stroke-complicated cases. This case report demonstrates that expanded diagnostic protocol for acute ischemic stroke assures rapid and correct diagnosis.
