Randomized Controlled Trial
The effect of acupuncture on depression and its correlation with metabolic alterations: A randomized controlled trial.
Electroacupuncture (EA) treatment has antidepressant effect and when patients were treated with EA and antidepressants, the effect could be maintained for a longer time. However, the effect of EA combined with antidepressants based on metabolism is still in the initial observation stage, which requires further research. ⋯ EA treatment combined with antidepressants is more effective in improving depressive symptoms than antidepressants alone. EA may treat depression by acting on tryptophan metabolism, glutamate metabolism, and fatty acid biosynthesis.

Review Case Reports
Central diabetes insipidus unveiled by glucocorticoid therapy in a patient with an empty sella: A case report and literature review.
Some diseases contribute to hypopituitarism without clinical manifestations and the glucocorticoid therapy may unveil central diabetes insipidus. The condition is rare and usually causes problems for clinical physicians. ⋯ This case indicated that hypopituitarism may be caused by an empty sella and be masked by adrenal insufficiency. Central diabetes insipidus may present after glucocorticoid therapy.

Review Case Reports
Acquired hemophilia A in a woman with systemic lupus erythematosus: A case report and review of literature.
Acquired hemophilia A (AHA) is a rare autoimmune disease caused by autoantibodies directed against the activity of factor VIII (FVIII) and presents with prolonged bleeding. 5.7% of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients are affected by AHA. ⋯ AHA in a patient with SLE is rare. Once it occurs, it can be life-threatening. Clinicians should remain aware that because some cases of AHA may have features of SLE, appropriate distinction and diagnosis of these different but associated diseases is necessary.

The reproductive dilemma faced by men has always been the focus of the whole society. Idiopathic asthenozoospermia (AZS), as one of the common causes of male infertility, lack of specific treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine has shown potential benefits in the management of male infertility. Yishentongluo decoction (YSTL) is a representative Chinese herbal formula; however, there is still no rigorous clinical trial supporting its application. Therefore, we designed a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of YSTL for patients with idiopathic AZS and explain the possible action mechanisms of YSTL in improving sperm motility. ⋯ This study will provide initial evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of YSTL in the treatment of idiopathic AZS with kidney deficiency and blood stasis pattern. In addition, potential mechanisms of YSTL in improving sperm motility will be explored based on sperm MMP test.

The persistent loss of consciousness caused by general anesthesia without the existence of repeated 90-minute cycles of non-REM and REM sleep might significantly disturb and suppress the cycle of normal physiological sleep in postoperative periods after general anesthesia. Patients with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) with existing circadian rhythm disorder are reported to rapidly deteriorate due to acute sleep disorder during the perioperative period after general anesthesia.A melatonin receptor agonist, ramelteon (Rozerem), which is a sleep cycle regulator, is used as a therapeutic drug for patients with sleep disorders, but there are no studies on the prevention of postoperative sleep disorder after general anesthesia. In this study, we investigate whether prophylactic administration of a sleep-inducing substance, a melatonin receptor agonist, is effective against sleep disorder after general anesthesia in patients with ASD. ⋯ Postoperative sleep disorders after general anesthesia has been reported in patients with ASD; however, effective preventive pharmacological treatments have not been established. A sleep cycle regulator, ramelteon (Rozerem), is used as a therapeutic drug for patients with sleep disorders by decreasing the difficulty of falling asleep in insomnia. If sleep disorder can be prevented after the administration of general anesthesia in patients with ASD, we can support social participation while maintaining their quality of life.
