Poor effect of osimertinib on EGFR exon 20 insertion-positive lung adenocarcinoma: A case report.
The clinical efficacy of osimertinib for patients with lung adenocarcinoma harboring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 20 insertion mutations is unclear. Few case reports exist on the successful treatment of such tumors with osimertinib. We report a case wherein osimertinib administration had no effect in a patient with EGFR exon 20 insertion-positive lung adenocarcinoma. ⋯ EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations must be classified in more detail to assess the efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Osimertinib doses that provide favorable therapeutic windows should be considered. Further clinical research is required to clarify the efficacy of osimertinib and other drugs for exon 20 insertion mutations.

Carcinoma in situ of the pancreas with fibrosis area around the carcinoma: A case report.
Pancreatic cancer (PC) has the worst prognosis among all carcinomas. However, patients with carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the pancreas, usually, have a good prognosis. Many previous reports have mentioned the high frequency of fibrosis around CIS. In some cases, the fibrosis is detected on endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), but there are few past reports of fibrosis detected on computed tomography (CT). ⋯ This case highlights the importance of identifying the enhanced area in the delayed phase on CE-CT, as this can be fibrosis around CIS.

The agents used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) might affect the oral health of cancer patients. The study aims to assess the changes in the levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) in saliva and blood, during first 22 days of intensive chemotherapy of ALL in children. Saliva and blood samples were taken from 24 patients, including 13 boys and 11 girls (age range: 4 - 17 years) on days 1, 8 and 22 of treatment. ⋯ Four children suffered from oral mucositis graded 1 or higher between days 8 and 22. Chemotherapy given during the treatment of childhood ALL is associated with a reduction in the level of salivary immunoglobulin A. Prevention of the drop of salivary IgA may diminish the risk of occurrence of acute mucosal complications.

Even being equipped with advanced surgical navigation systems, thorough analysis of patient's imaging diagnosis before procedures is still of great necessity for the operators. This study aimed to explore the morphological changes of sphenoid sinus lesions as observed on computed tomography (CT), and further carry out the fenestration of sphenoid sinus under guidance of the CT. A retrospective analysis of the characteristics of CT images was performed. ⋯ No significant difference was observed in the curative effects among the 3 groups. CT of the paranasal sinus can guide the procedures of sphenoid sinus fenestration. No statistically significant differences were exhibited in terms of the amount of bleeding, surgical time and days of hospitalization among the 3 groups.
