A rare case report of immunoglobulin G4-related sclerosing mesenteritis and review of the literature.
Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare autoimmune disorder involving 1 or multiple organs, most commonly the pancreas, lacrimal glands, and salivary glands. However, IgG4-related sclerosing mesenteritis (SM) involving the small-bowel mesentery is rare. Given that IgG4-related SM usually mimics the imaging characteristics of mesenteric malignancies, its preoperative diagnosis remains challenging. In addition, no specific consensus has been reached regarding the treatment of IgG4-related SM. Therefore, a better understanding of the characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of IgG-related SM is urgently needed. Herein, we report a rare case of IgG-related SM. ⋯ This case highlights the mesentery as an uncommon site of involvement as well as how early IgG-related SM can be completely asymptomatic. Thus, this study has advanced our knowledge of IgG-related SM and may improve treatments for similar conditions.

Previous studies on the association between serotonin transporter linked polymorphic region (5-HTTLPR) polymorphism and premature ejaculation (PE) have led to inconsistent results. The purpose of the present meta-analysis was to examine whether 5-HTTLPR polymorphism is associated with PE susceptibility. All eligible studies were searched and acquired from PubMed, Embase, Science Direct, CNKI, and Wanfang databases according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. ⋯ In the stratified analysis by subgroup, significantly associations were also found between PE and 5-HTTLPR polymorphism in Caucasians but not Asians (L vs S: OR = 0.79, 95% CI = 0.63-0.98; LL + SL vs SS: OR = 0.67, 95% CI = 0.46-0.96). Our meta-analysis demonstrated that the 5-HTTLPR polymorphism was associated with the susceptibility to PE in the Caucasian population. Compared with S allele, L allele is likely to be less susceptible to PE.

Erector spinae plane block for postoperative pain and recovery in hepatectomy: A randomized controlled trial.
The randomized controlled study aimed to examine the efficacy of preoperative ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane (ESP) block combined with ropivacaine in patients undergoing hepatectomy. ⋯ ESP block combined with ropivacaine treatment effectively reduced early postoperative pain and improved recovery after hepatectomy.

DM is a common chronic metabolic disease. COVID-19 is a large-scale infectious disease. Some studies have shown that DM is an independent risk factor that increases COVID-19 mortality or other adverse outcomes. There is currently no specific and effective drug treatment. More and more people realize that DPP-4 inhibitors may play a huge role in fighting COVID-19 combined with diabetes. However, there is no evidence-based medicine to confirm the effectiveness and safety of DPP-4 inhibitors in the treatment of COVID-19 patients with diabetes. SUZYTM forceps facilitate nasogastric tube insertion under McGRATHTM MAC videolaryngoscopic guidance: A randomized, controlled trial.
Nasogastric tubes can be easily inserted in patients under general anesthesia. However, for difficult cases, insertion techniques that can be used in routine clinical practice are limited. SUZY forceps are designed for the removal of pharyngolaryngeal foreign bodies under guidance of a McGrath videolaryngoscope. We hypothesized that using SUZY forceps under McGrath videolaryngoscopic guidance may facilitate nasogastric tube insertion and tested this in a randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Using SUZY forceps under McGrath videolaryngoscopic guidance reduced the time required to insert a nasogastric tube and the severity of pharyngolaryngeal complications, when compared to using Magill forceps.
