Case Reports
Cerebral pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma mimicking inflammatory granuloma: Two case reports.
Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is a rare low-grade glial neoplasm of the central nervous system, which is difficult to distinguish from other neoplastic and non-neoplastic entities. Herein, we report 2 cases of PXA that had been misdiagnosed as an inflammatory granuloma. ⋯ The preoperative differential diagnosis of PXA is challenging due to the nonspecific symptoms and imaging manifestations. Considering the potential risk of malignant transformation of PXA, early surgery should be highlighted, and gross total resection is associated with a favorable prognosis.

Priapism is a common urologic emergency, but high-flow penile priapism (HFP) caused by trauma is very rare. Therefore, HFP diagnosis and treatment are still not standardized. ⋯ Multimodality MRI is very effective in detecting high blood flow priapism. Its application would improve the clinical management of this ailment.

Prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography-computed tomography (F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT) imaging is an emerging method for the diagnosis of prostate cancer (PC), but its efficiency in detecting other accompanying diseases has rarely been investigated. ⋯ PSMA-PET/CT imaging results must be interpreted cautiously when the uptake of PSMA increases in a single lesion instead of the most common sites of PC metastasis. Pathological examination of the suspected lesions is also recommended.

Signet ring cell carcinoma of the stomach is prone to relapse and metastasis after traditional surgical treatment, and the prognosis is also poor. We improved the concept of treatment and conducted cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) combined with intraperitoneal (IP) and intravenous (IV) chemotherapy for a gastric signet-cell carcinoma patient. ⋯ CRS + HIPEC combined with IP + IV chemotherapy achieved long-term disease-free survival for this patient with gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma and deserve further study. This new treatment modality deserves appropriate consideration in routine clinical practice for patients with advanced gastric cancer.

Observational Study
Management and survival for patients with stage-I hepatocellular carcinoma: An observational study based on SEER database.
It is controversial regarding the treatment allocation for patients with stage I hepatocellular carcinoma (SI-HCC). The aim of the present study was to compare the long-term survival in SI-HCC patients undergoing liver transplantation (LT), liver resection (LR), local tumor destruction (LTD), or none. SI-HCC patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2015 were extracted from the SEER 18 registry database. ⋯ In conclusion, LT offered a survival advantage compared with LR among patients with Stage I HCC. LT is the best surgical treatment for stage I HCC in patients with advanced fibrosis, whereas LR provides comparable long-term outcomes to LT in patients without advanced fibrosis and should be considered as the first-line surgical option. LTD can be used as an alternative method when LR and LT are unavailable.
