Meta Analysis
Association of rs2230806 in ABCA1 with coronary artery disease: An updated meta-analysis based on 43 research studies.
As a key gene in the reverse transport pathway of cholesterol, ABCA1 (ATP-binding cassette transporter A1) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). In the ABCA1, rs2230806 is the most widely studied polymorphism and its role has been controversial. ⋯ The K allele of rs2230806 was significantly associated with decreased risk of CAD, especially in Asian populations and small sample Caucasians.

An integrative cognitive rehabilitation using neurologic music therapy in multiple sclerosis: A pilot study.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease, affecting both the sensorimotor and cognitive systems. The typical pattern of cognitive impairment includes reduced speed of information processing, decreased phonological and semantic speech fluency, deficits in verbal and visual episodic memory, as well as attention and executive dysfunctions. We aimed to investigate the influence of the neurologic music therapy (NMT) on mood, motivation, emotion status, and cognitive functions in patients with MS. ⋯ NMT could be considered a complementary approach to enhance CCR in patients affected by MS.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common disease in the elderly, which seriously reduces the quality of life of patients and increases the social burden. proximal fibula osteotomy (PFO) and high tibial osteotomy (HTO) are effective methods to treat KOA. However, it is not entirely clear which method has the advantage. Therefore, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of HTO and PFO in the treatment of KOA. ⋯ This proposed systematic review will provide up-to-date evidence to assess the effect of HTO in the treatment for patients with KOA.

Modified long-axis in-plane ultrasound technique versus conventional palpation technique for radial arterial cannulation: A prospective randomized controlled trial.
A low first-pass success rate of radial artery cannulation was obtained when using the conventional palpation technique (C-PT) or conventional ultrasound-guided techniques, we; therefore, evaluate the effect of a modified long-axis in-plane ultrasound technique (M-LAINUT) in guiding radial artery cannulation in adults. ⋯ Modified long-axis in-plane ultrasound-guided radial artery cannulation can increase the first and total radial artery cannulation success rates, reduce the number of attempts, and shorten the total cannulation time in adults.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that is increasing the number of cases worldwide. The treatments currently used have not worked as expected. Alternative and complementary medicines were inserted in health services, especially in primary care, as an attempt to minimize risks and help control diseases such as diabetes. Among the herbal medicines used stands out cinnamon, which can serve as an adjuvant in the control of diabetes. ⋯ This study will be the first to investigate cinnamon to reduce glycemic, lipid, and anthropometric levels in Brazil. In case of favorable results, this therapy may be used as an alternative or additional medicine in cases where only oral antidiabetic agents are used and can promote the use of the product to minimize future complications of patients with diabetes and people who do not have the disease.
