Meta Analysis
Rs10757274 gene polymorphisms in coronary artery disease: A systematic review and a meta-analysis.
It has been reported the rs10757274 SNP (present on locus 9p21 in the gene for CDKN2BAS1) might be associated with susceptibility to coronary artery disease (CAD). Owing to mixed and inconclusive results, we conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between rs10757274 polymorphism and the risk of CAD. ⋯ Our findings indicated that rs10757274 polymorphisms may serve as genetic biomarkers of CAD, especially in West Asians.

Patients with cancer are of a high level risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is recommended as the normal treatment for cancer-associated venous thrombosis. Recently, some studies suggest that patients with cancer-associated venous thrombosis can get a good efficacy and safety profile from treating with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) compared with other anticoagulants. However, when it comes to the efficacy of DAOCs in preventing VTE in patient with cancer, the data are limited. Thus, we performed such a meta-analysis to determine the efficacy and safety of DOACs in preventing VTE in patient with cancer compared with LMWHs. ⋯ DOACs show comparable efficacy to LMWH in cancer patients without VTE with a slightly higher major bleeding occurrence rate. DOACs are inclined to be an alternative thromboprophylaxis strategy in cancer patients as they have superiorities compared to traditional anticoagulation agents. Further studies are still demanded as exiting relevant researches are limited.

An integrative cognitive rehabilitation using neurologic music therapy in multiple sclerosis: A pilot study.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease, affecting both the sensorimotor and cognitive systems. The typical pattern of cognitive impairment includes reduced speed of information processing, decreased phonological and semantic speech fluency, deficits in verbal and visual episodic memory, as well as attention and executive dysfunctions. We aimed to investigate the influence of the neurologic music therapy (NMT) on mood, motivation, emotion status, and cognitive functions in patients with MS. ⋯ NMT could be considered a complementary approach to enhance CCR in patients affected by MS.

The number of dementia patients in the world is large, and the number of dementia patients will continue to rise in the future, which will bring a heavy social and economic burden. No interventions have been found to cure dementia. Medication can delay the progression of the disease and impose an economic burden. Some non-drug therapies often require the care of the caregiver. Probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics may intervene in dementia through microbiota-gut-brain axis (MGBA). However, their effectiveness and safety are still obscure and deserve further investigation. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect and safety of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics in treating dementia. ⋯ This review will provide clear evidence to assess the effectiveness and safety of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics for dementia.OSF registration number: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/2Q3AK.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurological disorder that causes an irresistible urge to move the legs. An increasing number of studies have been published in recent years to support the effectiveness of acupuncture for RLS. We will conduct a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the evidence of randomized controlled trials for acupuncture treatment of RLS. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42019148948.
