A core outcome set (COS) is an agreed minimum set of outcomes that should be reported in all clinical trials in specific areas of health care. A considerable amount of trials did not report essential outcomes or outcomes measurement methods, which makes it challenging to evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment strategies for pressure injury (PI) and produced significant heterogeneity of reported outcomes. It is necessary to develop a COS, which can be used for clinical trials in PI treatment. ⋯ The COS will follow current guidance to develop a high-quality COS in the field of PI treatment to reduce heterogeneity in trial reporting, facilitate valid comparisons of new therapies, and improve the quality of clinical trials.

Long non-coding small nucleolar RNA host gene 7 (lncRNA SNHG7) is located on chromosome 9q34.3 in length of 984 bp. SNHG7 has been found to play the role of oncogene in varieties of cancers, and its dysregulation has been found to be associated with carcinogenesis and progression. In the present study, we examined the expression of SNHG7 in prostate cancer tissues and in paired adjacent normal prostate tissues, and we further explored the clinical significance and prognostic value of SNHG7 in prostate cancer patients. ⋯ This study showed that lncRNA-SNHG7 was overexpressed in prostate cancer tissues, and it might contributes to the development and progression of prostate cancer. Furthermore, the SNHG7 expression was associated with the prognosis of prostate cancer, suggesting a potential target for the treatment and prognosis of prostate cancer. Nevertheless, the underlying modulatory mechanism by which SNHG7 aggravates prostate cancer progression need to be further studied.

The stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) gene contributes essentially to Ca transport, thus it is functionally related to neurodegenerative disorders. The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the non-coding region of STIM1 gene and the risk for Parkinson disease (PD) in a Chinese Han population. In a cohort composed of 300 PD patients and 300 healthy individuals from a Chinese Han population, we analyzed genotypes for five novel SNPs, rs7934581, rs3794050, rs1561876, rs3750994 and rs3750996 in the non-coding region of STIM1 gene. ⋯ Moreover, PD risk was significantly elevated only in subjects with age ≥60 years or females who carry the STIM1 rs3794050 minor allele. There was a significant difference in plasma STIM1 protein levels between subjects with different genotypes of STIM1 rs7934581, rs3794050, rs1561876, and rs3750996. STIM1 gene rs7934581, rs3794050, rs1561876, rs3750996 SNPs are associated with increased PD risk, and its mechanism may be related to abnormal STIM1 gene expression.

Laser acupuncture for refractory coccydynia after traumatic coccyx fracture: A case report.
Coccyx fracture is an injury usually caused by trauma. In most cases, the fractures recover after conservative therapy. For refractory cases that exhibit coccydynia after more than 2 months of conservative treatment, coccygectomy is indicated. However, limited information about the efficacy of this procedure is available, and it is known to have a high complication rate. As such, other therapeutic approaches are needed. Here, we report our experience using another conservative treatment option, low-level laser therapy, to successfully reduce refractory coccydynia in a patient with coccyx fracture. ⋯ Laser acupuncture produced analgesic effects in this patient with refractory coccydynia after traumatic coccyx fracture. This is the first case report to apply laser acupuncture for refractory coccydynia after traumatic coccyx fracture. Our findings imply that laser acupuncture may be a good conservative therapy option for coccyx fracture.

This study aimed to investigate the expression of c-Fos and matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) in dental pulp of patients receiving orthodontic treatment via wire appliance. Fifteen patients (30 teeth in total) were randomly assigned to five groups: t = 0, t = 1, t = 4, t = 8 and t = 12 (n = 6). The first maxillary premolars of patients in the t = 0 group were extracted without any orthodontic treatment. ⋯ The protein expression of MMP-9 in the dental pulp was significantly correlated with the expression of c-Fos (P < .001). Extreme intrusive force upregulates c-Fos and MMP-9 expression in the dental pulp. Moreover, protein expression of c-Fos and MMP-9 is significantly correlated under intrusive force.
