We assessed factors associated with premature physeal closure (PPC) and outcomes after closed reduction of Salter-Harris type II (SH-II) fractures of the distal tibia. We reviewed patients with SH-II fractures of the distal tibia treated at our center from 2010 to 2015 with closed reduction and a non-weightbearing long-leg cast. Patients were categorized by immediate postreduction displacement: minimal, <2 mm; moderate, 2 to 4 mm; or severe, >4 mm. ⋯ Initial fracture displacement and high-grade mechanisms of injury were associated with PPC. LEFS scores did not differ significantly by postreduction displacement. Level of Evidence: Level IV, case series.

Musculoskeletal disorders are the main reason for people to seek counseling and use of complementary and alternative medicine. Although pharmacopuncture is used to treat various diseases in traditional medicine, it is most often applied to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Here, we will review systematically the clinical evidence for the effectiveness and safety of pharmacopuncture for musculoskeletal diseases. ⋯ CRD42019148795.

Relationship between plasma levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D and arterial stiffness in elderly Chinese with non-dipper hypertension: An observational study.
Elderly individuals with non-dipper hypertension are at high risk of cardiovascular disease because of increased stiffness of peripheral arteries. Since, vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in elderly Chinese. We examined whether reduced plasma levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] may help promote this stiffness. ⋯ Multivariate regression showed that age and 25(OH)D were independently related to CAVI, with each 1-ng/ml decrease in 25(OH)D associated with a CAVI increase of +0.04 m/s. Non-dipper hypertension is associated with vitamin D deficiency and reduced plasma levels of 25(OH)D. The latter may contribute to stiffening of peripheral arteries, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Ruling out distant metastases, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)treatment depends on the results of mediastinal node staging (N staging). Several diagnostic methods play central roles in mediastinal N staging. This study is intended to evaluate the existing diagnostic methods and report quality, and to search for the best method for staging mediastinal lymph nodes. ⋯ CRD42019145667.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) account for 12% to 17% of all breast cancers. It is a heterogeneous group of tumors associated with aggressive clinical course. Insulin-like growth factor II mRNA binding protein 3 (IMP3) belongs to a family of insulin-like growth factor type II (IGF2), which plays a key role in the transmission and stabilization of mRNA, cell growth, and migration during embryogenesis. ⋯ Disease-free survival and OS were significantly shorter in IMP3 positive TNBC. According to results of our study IMP3 expression can be used as negative prognostic factor for triple negative breast carcinomas. Targeting IMP3 molecule could be an effective approach to the management of a triple negative breast cancer with new immunological therapies, which does not yet exist for this group of tumors.
