To characterize the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) in drug-naïve first-episode female patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). Whole brain rs-fMRI data were collected from 7 drug-naïve first-episode female patients with DSM-5 AN and 14 age-matched healthy female controls. fALFF values were calculated and compared between the two groups using a two-sample t test. Correlation analysis between the fALFF values in the entire brain and body mass index (BMI) was performed. ⋯ Moreover, low BMI was significantly associated with decreased fALFF in the left inferior frontal gyrus but increased fALFF in the left calcarine. In particular, the z-standardized fALFF (zfALFF) value of the left rectus was positive associated with BMI. Our findings suggest that spontaneous brain activity in the frontal region, hippocampus and rectus, characterized by fALFF values, was altered in drug-naïve, first-episode female patients with AN.

Burnout level and job satisfaction in Chinese pediatrics residents: A web-based cross-sectional study.
To study the prevalence of burnout and job satisfaction in Chinese pediatrics residents. Prospective participants were invited via a WeChat group to participate from October 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey was used to measure physician burnout, and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to measure job satisfaction. ⋯ Residents who reported that they felt sleep deprived had significantly higher rates of burnout than those who did not (P < .01). Logistic regression showed that age ≥30 years (odds ratio [OR] 3.74 [1.57-7.66], P < .01) and sleep deprivation (OR 4.11 [2.19-7.35], P < .01) were the 2 independent risk factors associated with burnout. Burnout is highly prevalent among Chinese pediatrics residents who also reported poor job satisfaction.

Peritoneal metastasis (PM) is a frequent condition in patients presenting with gastric cancer, especially in younger patients with advanced tumor stages. Computer tomography (CT) is the most common noninvasive modality for preoperative staging in gastric cancer. However, the challenges of limited CT soft tissue contrast result in poor CT depiction of small peritoneal tumors. The sensitivity for detecting PM remains low. About 16% of PM are undetected. Deep learning belongs to the category of artificial intelligence and has demonstrated amazing results in medical image analyses. So far, there has been no deep learning study based on CT images for the diagnosis of PM in gastric cancer. ⋯ This study will help us know whether deep learning can improve the performance of CT in diagnosing PM in gastric cancer.

The optimal number of examined lymph nodes (ELN) for staging and impact of nodal status on survival following total pancreatectomy (TP) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic impact of different lymph node status after TP for PDAC. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was used to identify patients who underwent TP for PDAC from 2004 to 2015. ⋯ Evaluation at least 19 lymph nodes should be considered as quality metric of surgery in patients who underwent TP for PDAC. For node-negative patients, a minimal number of 19 lymph nodes is adequate to avoid stage migration. For node-positive patients, PLN is superior to LNR in predicting survival after TP, predominantly for those with high number of ELN.

Lateral epicondylitis (LE) is a common musculoskeletal disorder for which an effective treatment strategy remains unknown. The goal of this study is to examine whether acupuncture is more effective than injection of glucocorticoid in adults with LE. Adults with LE received either acupuncture or injection of glucocorticoid were followed-up for 6 months. ⋯ There were no complications related to the use of acupuncture or corticosteroid injection. We found that both methods were effective for external humeral epicondylitis. However, after 6 months of treatment, patients with chronic LE with acupuncture achieved pain relief and function improve significantly, exceeding the effect of corticosteroid injection.
