Randomized Controlled Trial
The effect of an intensive patients' education program on anxiety, depression and patient global assessment in diabetic foot ulcer patients with Wagner grade 1/2: A randomized, controlled study.
This study aimed to synthetically evaluate the impact of intensive patients' education program (IEP) on anxiety, depression and patient global assessment (PGA) in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) patients. One hundred eighty DFU patients with Wagner grade 1 and Wagner grade 2 were consecutively recruited in this randomized, controlled study and randomly assigned to IEP group (N = 90) or control group (N = 90) as 1:1 ratio. In the IEP group, patients received the IEP and usual care, and patients in the control group received usual care only. ⋯ Moreover, IEP group exhibited reduced PGA score at M1/M2/M3 and elevated PGA score change (M3-M0) compared to control group. Further subgroup analyses disclosed that IEP reduced HADS-A/SAS/HADS-D/PGA scores at M3 and elevated these score changes (M3-M0) in patients with Wagener grade 2 but not Wagener grade 1. IEP ameliorates anxiety, depression and PGA in DFU patients with Wagner grade 2 but not Wagner grade 1.

This study reports our experience, the therapeutic outcomes and complications of percutaneous sclerotherapy (PS) with polidocanol to treat venous malformations (VMs) in children. A retrospective analysis was conducted of pediatric patients with VMs who underwent PS using polidocanol under continuous ultrasound (US) guidance between January 2015 and January 2018 at our department. Medical records were reviewed to record demographic information, lesion characteristics, treatment sessions, therapeutic outcomes and complications. χ analysis was employed to evaluate the effects of these characteristics on outcomes. ⋯ No other lesion characteristic significantly affected the outcomes (good or excellent outcomes), including lesion location (χ = 2.011, P = .570) or lesion size (χ = 1.045, P = .307). After the PS procedure, temporary local swelling occurred in 81 sessions (81.0%), local pain occurred in 15 sessions (15.0%), fever occurred in 27 (27.0%) sessions, and transient local numbness occurred in four sessions (4.0%). PS with polidocanol under the guidance of US appears to be safe and effective for the treatment of VMs in children, especially for focal lesions.

The potential association between antibiotic use and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has drawn significant attention from clinicians and researchers in recent years due to the wild usage of antibiotic. This study aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature to determine if antibiotic use is associated with an increased risk of RA, so as to provide an important reference for clinical decision-making. ⋯ This systemic review and meta-analysis will determine if antibiotic use is associated with an increased risk of RA. We hope this study can make a definitive conclusion for the association.

The global prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is estimated to be as high as 15%, and it is estimated that IBS has a prevalence of approximately 10% to 20% in Western countries. Some trials showed mesalazine (5-aminosalicylic acid [5-ASA]) might be effective for IBS, but the results still need to be confirmed. Hence, this meta-analysis is designed to assess the efficacy and safety of mesalazine for IBS in adults and children. ⋯ The meta-analysis has been prospectively registered in PROSPERO (CRD42019147860).

Case Reports
Role of autoimmune hemolytic anemia as an initial indicator for chronic myeloid leukemia: A case report.
We report here the case of a patient with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in the chronic phase who was diagnosed 1 year after receiving a diagnosis of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA). The objective was to assess if the CML patient progressed from AIHA and explore the underlying factors of the poor outcome after the achievement of molecular complete remission (MCR). ⋯ AIHA may be a clinical phase of CML progression in this patient. Both splenectomy and prolonged oral tyrosine kinase inhibitors may have contributed to the high risk of infection and her subsequent death. In addition, the gain of chromosome 14q32.33 may be related to her poor outcome.
