Apatinib combined with chemotherapy or concurrent chemo-brachytherapy in patients with recurrent or advanced cervical cancer: A phase 2, randomized controlled, prospective study.
Apatinib mesylate is a novel vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2) inhibitor, which has exhibited good safety and efficacy in several types of solid tumors. The present study aimed to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of apatinib combined with chemotherapy and concurrent chemo-brachytherapy (CCBT) in patients with recurrent and advanced cervical cancer. ⋯ Apatinib exhibited promising clinical efficacy in cervical cancer patients, resulting in an improved response rate and prolonged progression-free survival compared with the control group, and had manageable side effects. Our study revealed that apatinib combination therapy, adenocarcinoma, and bone metastasis.

The association of resting heart rate (RHR) and hypertension in adults is unclear. We aimed to perform a meta-analysis of cohort studies to clarify the association. ⋯ We found a linear dose-response association between RHR and incident hypertension in adults.

Respiratory muscle training in stroke patients with respiratory muscle weakness, dysphagia, and dysarthria - a prospective randomized trial.
To examine the efficacy of combined inspiratory and expiratory respiratory muscle training (RMT) with respect to the swallowing function, pulmonary function, functional performance, and dysarthria in patients with stroke. ⋯ Altogether, 6-week combined inspiratory and expiratory RMT is feasible as adjuvant therapy for stroke patients to improve fatigue level, respiratory muscle strength, lung volume, respiratory flow, and dysarthria.Clinical trial registration number (Clinical Trial Identifier): NCT03491111.

Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a kind of heterogeneous disease caused by the interaction of polygene inheritance and environmental factors. The LMP2 and LMP7 are 2 loci in LMP gene, and although genetic association between LMP2 and LMP7 polymorphisms were reported, the results are inconclusive. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between LMP2 and LMP7 polymorphisms and IDDM risk. ⋯ The dominant model of LMP2 CfoI might be a risk factor for IDDM in Asian population. Whereas, the allelic and dominant models of LMP7 G37360T might be protective factors for IDDM in Caucasian population.

Breast cancer susceptibility gene 1/2 (BRCA1/2) is a promising tumor marker in many types of cancer. However, the methylation frequency of BRCA1/2 gene with occurrence risk and survival benefit of patients with breast carcinoma remains controversy. The aim of the present study was to assess the relationship between BRCA1/2 gene promoter methylation and the occurrence and prognosis in breast carcinoma based on a meta-analysis, meanwhile, this article explored the differential expression levels of BRCA1/2 gene promoter methylation in peripheral blood and tumor tissues of breast cancer patients. ⋯ Fifty-eight articles including 19,084 individuals met full eligibility criteria. We observed that the frequency of BRCA1 gene promoter methylation was higher in breast cancer tissues compared with normal tissues, and the prognostic analysis suggested that BRCA1 gene promoter methylation was significantly associated with poor overall survival and poor disease-free survival. This study also verified that there was no statistically significant difference in the methylation frequency of BRCA1 gene promoter between peripheral blood and tumor tissues in breast cancer patients, which suggests that the detection of BRCA1 promoter methylation in peripheral blood may be a non-invasive and rapid way to monitor the occurrence breast cancer.
