Multicenter Study
Clinical practice on intra-operative fluid therapy in Poland: A point prevalence study.
Intra-operative fluid therapy (IFT) is the cornerstone of peri-operative management as it may significantly influence the treatment outcome. Therefore, we sought to evaluate nationwide clinical practice regarding IFT in Poland. A cross-sectional, multicenter, point-prevalence study was performed on April 5, 2018, in 31 hospitals in Poland. ⋯ The IFT was dependent on the risk involved, while the transfused volumes were lower in ASA-PS III+ patients, as well as in high-risk procedures (P < .05). The practice of IFT is liberal but is adjusted to the preoperative risk. The consumption of synthetic colloids and 0.9% saline is low.

Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Application of multiple injections of contrast agent in head and neck CT arteriovenous angiography in children: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT Compliant).
To investigate the application value of multiple injections of contrast agent in head and neck CT arteriovenous angiography in children. ⋯ For the head and neck enhanced CT examination of children, the method of first bolus injection of 20% diluted contrast agent and later bolus injection of undiluted contrast agent can clearly demonstrate the head and neck arteries and veins one time, reducing the X-ray dose and contrast agent dose, which has clinical practical value in the enhanced CT examination of children with head and neck disease.

Meandering pulmonary vein is a rare congenital pulmonary vascular anomaly. It presents unilateral single pulmonary vein that takes a circuitous route in the lung and drains normally into the left atrium. Most cases of meandering pulmonary vein have been reported to be right-sided. A few of them coincided with features of scimitar syndrome. ⋯ Meandering pulmonary veins can occur on the left side and coincide with features of scimitar syndrome. Multi-detector computed tomography with 3D reconstruction allows clear depiction of vascular connections and associated anomalies, obviating the need for invasive procedures.

Tracheoesophageal Fistula (TF) is a rare complication of Bevacizumab. Thoracic radiotherapy may be a contributing factor to TF formation. To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case of Chinese patient with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who developed TF after completion of chemotherapy with bevacizumab and thoracic radiotherapy. ⋯ TF is a rare but life-threatening complication of bevacizumab. Careful observation is imperative for those patients who are administered bevacizumab, particularly in patients treated previously with thoracic radiotherapy.

H19, a well-known long non-coding RNA, is involved in carcinogenesis and progression of multiple cancers. Molecular epidemiological research suggests that polymorphisms in H19 are associated with an increased risk of cancer, but the results are inconsistent. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to estimate the associations between H19 polymorphisms and cancer susceptibility. ⋯ The results of our meta-analyses suggest that H19 polymorphisms may be associated with the risk of cancer development.
