Evidence of the effect of lifestyle behaviors on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is scarce or ambiguous. The objective of the present study was to explore the associations between multiple lifestyle behaviors and HRQoL among the elderly individuals with prediabetes. Four hundred thirty-four elderly individuals with prediabetes were included in this cross-sectional study. ⋯ Engaging in a greater number of lower-risk lifestyle behaviors was positively correlated with a better HRQoL. Multiple lifestyle behaviors were associated with HRQoL among the elderly individuals with prediabetes in rural areas. These results highlight the need for multiple lifestyle behavioral interventions to maintain and improve HRQoL in the elderly individuals with prediabetes.

Lumbopelvic motor control function between patients with chronic low back pain and healthy controls: a useful distinguishing tool: The STROBE study.
Although lumbopelvic stability exercise improves lumbopelvic motor control function in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP), the difference in lumbopelvic motor control function between the patients with CLBP and the healthy controls is unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare lumbopelvic motor control function between patients with CLBP and healthy controls and to determine the prevalence of CLBP according to core stability function. For this study, 278 participants were recruited, including patients with CLBP (n = 137) and healthy controls (n = 141). ⋯ Lumbopelvic motor control function demonstrated a significant difference between the patients with CLBP and the healthy controls. The lumbopelvic motor control function test was demonstrated to be an effective diagnostic tool for distinguishing CLBP. This information can be applied in assessments and interventions for CLBP in clinical settings.

Anatomical differences of unilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) between transverse process-pedicle approach (TPPA) and conventional transpedicular approach (CTPA) are not well discussed. To investigate the anatomical distinctions of unilateral PKP between TPPA and CTPA, we have discussed the unilateral PKP through a 3-dimensional-computed tomography database. Five hundred lumbar spines from 100 patients have been retrospectively collected and unilateral CTPA and TPPA were simulated. ⋯ Compared with CTPA group, the SR in TPPA group was significantly higher for L1 to L4 no matter in the left, right side and female patients. The TPPA group presented with more lateral entry point, larger PIAs and higher SRs than that in the CTPA group. PKP surgery through a TPPA was safer and could provide a more symmetrical distribution of bone cement than the CTPA group.

A 17-gene expression-based prognostic signature associated with the prognosis of patients with breast cancer: A STROBE-compliant study.
Identification of reliable predictive biomarkers for patients with breast cancer (BC). Univariate Cox proportional hazards regression model was conducted to identify genes correlated with the overall survival (OS) of patients in the TCGA-BRCA cohort. Functional enrichment analysis was conducted to investigate the biological meaning of these survival related genes. ⋯ The prognostic role of the 17-gene signature has been confirmed in the validation cohort. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression model suggested the 17-gene signature was an independent prognostic factor in BC. The 17-gene signature we developed could successfully classify patients into high- and low-risk groups, indicating that it might serve as candidate biomarker in BC.

The correlation of neuropsychological evaluation with 11C-PiB and 18F-FC119S amyloid PET in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer disease.
For the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer disease (AD), variable neuroimaging and neuropsychological tests have been used. We aimed to evaluate the correlation of neuropsychological domain with new amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) study and to validate the availability of new PET tracer. We enrolled 20 patients who underwent C-PiB-PET/CT, new PET tracer F-FC119S PET/CT from November, 2014 to July, 2015. ⋯ In AD group, F-FC119S PET presented more extensive correlation in each cognitive domain with multiple cortical areas compared with C-PiB-PET. The degree of amyloid burden assessed on F-FC119S PET was significantly correlated with neuropsychological test in AD, and also MCI patients. The combination of neuropsychological evaluation with novel F-FC119S PET/CT can be used for valid biomarker for MCI and AD.
