In activities involving upper limbs, patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) report an increase in dyspnea. For this reason, the authors of the recommendations about pulmonary rehabilitation propose to perform upper limbs muscle strengthening in patients with COPD. However, the modalities of strengthening are not clearly established.The aim of this study is to compare the effects of upper limbs endurance strengthening versus upper limbs force strengthening, in patients with COPD during a pulmonary rehabilitation program. ⋯ The modalities of upper limb strengthening are not very well known, and evidence based is lacking to recommend endurance or resistance upper limb strengthening.We anticipate that the results of this study will be of relevance to clinical practice. They will bring information about the best modality of upper limb strengthening to use during a pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Central precocious puberty (CPP) is caused by the premature activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Recently, the makorin ring finger protein 3 (MKRN3) mutations represent the most common genetic defects associated with CPP. However, the MKRN3 mutation is relatively rare in Asian countries. Here, we identified a novel heterozygous MKRN3 nonsense mutation (p. Gln363) causing CPP in a Chinese girl. ⋯ This case was obese companied with IGT at the baseline assessment and exhibited stronger LH/FSH response to GnRH stimulation test. Therefore, clinicians should highlight the importance of weight management and the long-term follow-up to monitor the adverse health outcomes, especially for the polycystic ovary syndrome in later life.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death globally. Angina pectoris is closely associated with coronary artery insufficiency, which seriously affects the quality of life and work of patients. Hypercholesterolemia and hypertension (HTN) are risk factors for CHD angina pectoris. The correlation between hypercholesterolemia with or without HTN and the severity of coronary arteries has not been clarified. ⋯ Through clinical research data, the study will help to provide guidance for the prevention and treatment of CHD angina pectoris complicated with diseases and promote further research.

The prognostic impact of incomplete revascularization (ICR) on patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was vague. Our research aimed to objectify the level of ICR by residual SYNTAX score (rSS) and evaluate the impact of ICR on exercise tolerance. We enrolled 87 patients who completed cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) within 12 months after PCI, retrospectively. ⋯ Among rSS = 0, 0 < rSS ≤ 8 and rSS > 8 groups, patients with higher rSS had progressively lower METpeak, METpeak%pred, VO2peak%pred, VO2 at AT, and MET at AT, which indicate reduced exercise tolerance. And further multiple comparisons showed that there were no statistically significant differences between rSS = 0 and 0 < rSS ≤ 8 groups, while the aforementioned CPET variables were significantly lower in rSS > 8 group compared with rSS = 0 group. Logistic regression analysis showed that rSS was an independent risk factor for reduced exercise tolerance.

Schwannoma is a benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor composed of Schwann cells and caused by genetic mutation or deletion. It rarely occurs in seminal vesicles. The optimal therapic strategy for asymptomatic cases is still unclear. ⋯ Conservative strategy might be an effective treatment option for asymptomatic patients with seminal vesical schwannoma. The period of follow-up depends on the size of the tumor.
