Asthma is a heterogeneous disease characterized by chronic airway inflammation with a genetic predisposition. Butyrophilin-like 2 (BTNL2) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that plays an important role in regulating T cell activation and immune homeostasis. Here, we aimed to investigate the association of the genetic variants of BTNL2 with childhood asthma and asthma-related traits by utilizing extreme asthma phenotypes and employing a genome-wide association study. ⋯ Although no single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) reached a genome-wide threshold of significance, 3 SNPs, rs3817971, rs41355746, and rs41441651, at BTNL2 were significantly associated with moderate to severe atopic asthma after performing Bonferroni correction. These SNPs were also associated with the risk of allergic sensitization toward house dust mites and the presence and degree of bronchial hyperresponsiveness. Thus, we identified that BTNL2 was associated with atopic moderate to severe persistent asthma in Korean children, and this may play an important role in disease development and susceptibility.

Suprascapular nerve block and axillary nerve block versus interscalene nerve block for arthroscopic shoulder surgery: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The interscalene brachial plexus block (ISB) is a commonly used nerve block technique for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing shoulder arthroscopy surgery; however, it is associated with potentially serious complications. The use of suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) and axillary Nerve Block (ANB) has been reported as an alternative nerve block with fewer reported side effects for shoulder arthroscopy. This review aimed to compare the impact of SSNB and ANB with ISB during shoulder arthroscopy surgery. ⋯ Our high-level evidence has established SSNB+ ANB as an effective and safe analgesic technique and a clinically attractive alternative to interscalene block during arthroscopic shoulder surgery, especially for severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obstructive sleep apnea, and morbid obesity. Given our meta-analysis's relevant possible biases, we required more adequately powered and better-designed randomized controlled trial studies with long-term follow-up to reach a firmer conclusion.

A refined nursing process is utilized to formulate a detailed early postsurgical activity plan. The postsurgical activity aims to conduct focused and planned interventions to address the early postoperative activities of patients, enhance the awareness and compliance of the patients through the early postsurgical activities. Currently, in traditional clinical practice, there is no clear evidence showing the effect of initial postsurgical actions related to the rehabilitation of inpatients undertaking abdominal operations. The present study will systematically evaluate how initial postsurgical actions impact the rehabilitation of patients undertaking abdominal operation through the analysis of relevant domestic and foreign literature. ⋯ The present systematic study will retrieve randomized controlled trials and case-control studies from online databases. The retrieved studies will describe the initial postsurgical activities in inpatients undergoing abdominal surgery. Accordingly, the following databases are searched for the aforementioned types of studies: Cochrane library, China National of Knowledge Infrastructure, Web of Science, PubMed database, WanFang database, and Embase database. Studies from inception to August 19, 2021 will be searched. The quality evaluation and data extraction for the studies that will satisfy the inclusion criteria will be conducted by 2 independent researchers. A meta-analysis on the postoperative indicators will be performed using RevMan 5.3.5 software.

Stroke is a common disease in neurology, patients often have different degrees of sequelae, which affect the patient's quality of life. We conducted a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with acupuncture for the treatment of stroke sequelae. ⋯ Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with acupuncture seems to be an effective therapy to ameliorate the clinical symptoms of stroke sequelae. In order to further determine the effectiveness and safety of Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with acupuncture in treating stroke sequelae, more multicenter and prospective randomized controlled trials must be carried out.

Monocarboxylate transports (MCTs), a family of solute carrier protein, play an important role in maintenance of cellular stability in tumor cells by mediating lactate exchange across membranes. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the knowledge structure, development trend, and research hotspot of MCTs research field systematically and comprehensively. ⋯ This study will help the new researcher to understand the MCTs related field, master the research frontier, and obtain valuable scientific information, thus providing directions for follow-up research.
