Epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) have elicited favorable anti-tumor activity in non-small cell lung cancer especially the lung adenocarcinoma. Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is 1 of the fatal side effects of EGFR-TKIs. However, such type of side effect has not been observed in the follow-up during the treatment of the third-generation EGFR-TKI Almonertinib (also called HS-10296). Here, we first report an Almonertinib-induced ILD in an elderly female patient. ⋯ Almonertinib has potential to cause the rare but severe interstitial lung disease. Clinicians should keep cautious of this when prescribing Almonertinib.

Primary periampullary duodenal cancer accounts for 3% to 17% of periampullary cancers. There are no previous reports of metachronous primary colon and periampullary duodenal cancer. ⋯ The risk of developing a second malignancy may be associated with the site of the first tumor. Patients with right colon cancer may have particularly high risk of developing small intestinal cancer, including duodenal cancer. Early detection and active surgical treatments can improve prognosis. Long-term regular follow-up is necessary to detect new malignancies occurring after the diagnosis colon cancer.

This study aimed to investigate the perception about hand washing and health status among Koreans using the data from the Community Health Survey. We examined the differences in the perceptions about hand washing and health statuses of 220,440 participants of the 2017 community health survey. The sample was divided into groups based on demographic variables, perceptions about hand washing, and prevalence of metabolic diseases. ⋯ This study showed that positive hand washing perception is associated with good health care practices. The perceptions of hand washing, which are formed during early childhood, were closely associated with health status. This finding could be useful evidence for developing programs focusing on major health behaviors and levels of health.

Pompe disease or glycogen storage disease type II is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by a deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme a-glucosidase. Although enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) with 2 weekly intervals following was considered an effective treatment for Pompe disease in 2006, few patients can afford to receive treatment in China because of the high cost. This study aimed to examine the standard management of enzyme replacement therapy for late-onset Pompe disease among patients over the age of 14 years from a nursing perspective in order to assess operating procedures. ⋯ The time of dispensing and infusing the injection fluids using the cooperative method was 15.97 minutes shorter than that using the conventional method (95% CI: 4.51-27.43, P = .012); the time using the modified method was 20.93 minutes shorter than that using the conventional method (95% CI: 9.47-32.39, P = .012); and there was no significant difference between the cooperative and modified methods (P = .431). Enzyme replacement therapy entails frequent treatment and strict nursing requirements related to the intravenous infusion process. In this context, a standard operating procedure can be used to control nursing times and labor costs effectively while ensuring a safe and effective infusion process.

To investigate whether laryngeal cancer cells express erythropoietin (Epo) and erythropoietin receptor (EpoR) and what is their possible relationship with clinical and pathological features of the tumor. We performed immunohistochemical analysis of Epo and EpoR expression on 78 tissue samples of invasive and in situ squamous cell laryngeal carcinoma. The statistical analysis showed a weak positive and statistically significant correlation of EpoHS and EpoR HS expression levels. ⋯ The results show a statistically significant difference in Epo expression with respect to survival. We confirmed the presence of Epo an EpoR in malignant laryngeal tumors and demonstrated the correlation between Epo expression and survival. Further studies are needed to more precisely define the role of Epo and EpoR in treatment of patients with laryngeal cancer.
