Myeloid neoplasms with platelet-derived growth factor receptor β (PDGFRB) rearrangement usually present with eosinophilia in the peripheral blood and bone marrow. Here we report a case of systemic mastocytosis related myeloid neoplasms with basophilia and PRKG2-PDGFRB fusion gene. ⋯ Patients with increased basophilic granulocyte and/or mast cells in peripheral blood and/or bone marrow should be screened for PDGFRB abnormality and myeloid or lymphatic tumor. Patients bearing PDGFRB abnormality have a good response to imatinib.

Postpartum ovarian vein thrombophlebitis presenting as vaginal bleeding: A case report.
Postpartum ovarian vein thrombophlebitis (POVT) is a rare condition, and it can lead to severe complications and mortality. Here we report a patient who presented with vaginal bleeding and the diagnosis of POVT was confirmed by imaging. ⋯ We should pay high attention to the recognition and management of POVT to prevent morbidity and mortality.

Characterization and clinical significance of the CADM1/HER2/STAT3 axis in serous ovarian tumors.
The subtypes of serous ovarian tumors (SOTs), including benign serous cystadenoma, serous borderline tumor (SBT), low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (LGSC), and high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC), remain poorly understood. Herein, we aimed to characterize the cell adhesion molecule 1 (CADM1)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) axis and identify its clinical significance in patients with serous cystadenoma, SBT, LGSC, and HGSC. The immunohistochemical expression of CADM1, HER2, and STAT3 was assessed in 180 SOT specimens, and its association with clinical data was determined. ⋯ Furthermore, the expression profile of the CADM1/HER2/STAT3 axis was significantly associated with histologic type, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage, and lymph node metastasis in patients with SOT. Our study identified the changes in the CADM1/HER2/STAT3 axis that were closely associated with the clinical behavior of SOTs. These molecular data may provide new insights into SOT carcinogenesis and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with SOT.

Novel oxidative stress-related prognostic biomarkers for melanoma associated with tumor metastasis.
Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is a prevalent skin cancer whose metastatic form is dangerous due to its high morbidity and mortality. Previous studies have systematically established the vital role of oxidative stress (OS) in melanoma progression. This study aimed to identify prognostic OS genes closely associated with SKCM and illustrate their potential mechanisms. ⋯ Furthermore, our risk model demonstrated improved diagnostic accuracy in the Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus cohorts. In addition, we established 2 nomograms based on either risk score or hub genes, which displayed favorable discriminating ability for SKCM. Our results provide novel insight into the potential applications of OS-associated genes in SKCM.

This study aimed to compare Zung self-rating anxiety/depression scale (SAS/SDS) and hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) regarding the detection rate, detection consistency, and time of assessment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Totally 290 NSCLC patients who underwent surgical resection were consecutively recruited and clinical data of patients were collected. Patients' anxiety and depression were assessed using HADS and SAS/SDS when they were discharged from hospital and consumption of the time for completing HADS and SAS/SDS was recorded. ⋯ The subsequent correlation analysis showed that both depression scores (r = 0.639, P < .001) and detected depression (Kappa = 0.624, P < .001) were consistent by SDS and HADS-D. In addition, the time for HADS assessment (7.6 ± 1.2 minutes) was shorter than SAS/SDS assessment (16.2 ± 2.1 minutes) (P < .001). HADS could be a better choice for assessing anxiety and depression in NSCLC patients, benefiting from its shorter assessment time but consistent detection rate compared with SAS/SDS.
