Lung cancer (LC), with the high incidence in malignant tumors in the world, and seriously affects people's lives and brings a great economic burden. Previous clinical studies on Shen-Ling-Bai-Zhu-San (SLBZS) combined with chemotherapy for the treatment of lung cancer have been increasing, but there are no systematic reviews. This study aims to systematically study the efficacy and safety of SLBZS combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of LC. ⋯ INPLASY202110025.

Nutritional status is a predictor of mortality and morbidity in dialysis patients. This study aimed to assess dietary behaviors in dialysis patients compared to the recommendations of the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative. Ninety five dialysis patients recruited from a hospital completed a 24-hour dietary recall questionnaire. ⋯ Most dialysis patients do not meet their dietary recommendations or goals. The risk of a vegetarian diet may outweigh the benefits in dialysis patients. Careful consideration of dietary behaviors is required for dialysis patients to prevent malnutrition, more so in vegetarians.

Effect of statin treatment in patients with acute myocardial infarction with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus: A retrospective observational registry study.
Studies comparing long-term clinical outcomes of statin treatment between acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with prediabetes and those with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) after successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with the newer-generation drug-eluting stents (DESs) are limited. We compared 2-year clinical outcomes between these patients. A total of 11,962 AMI patients were classified as statin users (n = 10,243) and statin nonusers (n = 1719). ⋯ Moreover, in all the 3 glycemic groups, the cumulative incidences of MACE, all-cause death, and CD were significantly higher among statin nonusers than among statin users. This study revealed that AMI patients with prediabetes had worse clinical outcomes than those with normoglycemia and comparable to those with T2DM after 2-year statin treatment. However, further studies are warranted to confirm the current findings.

Prediction of expiratory desflurane and sevoflurane concentrations in lung-healthy patients utilizing cardiac output and alveolar ventilation matched pharmacokinetic models: A comparative observational study.
The Gas Man simulation software provides an opportunity to teach, understand and examine the pharmacokinetics of volatile anesthetics. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of a cardiac output and alveolar ventilation matched Gas Man model and to compare its predictive performance with the standard pharmacokinetic model using patient data. Therefore, patient data from volatile anesthesia were successively compared to simulated administration of desflurane and sevoflurane for the standard and a parameter-matched simulation model with modified alveolar ventilation and cardiac output. ⋯ Gas Man simulation software predicts expiratory concentrations of desflurane and sevoflurane in humans with good accuracy, especially when compared to models for intravenous anesthetics. Enhancing the standard model by ventilation and hemodynamic input variables increases the predictive performance of the simulation model. In most patients and clinical scenarios, the predictive performance of the standard Gas Man simulation model will be high enough to estimate pharmacokinetics of desflurane and sevoflurane with appropriate accuracy.

Clinical characteristics and treatment outcome of Candida tracheobronchitis.
Although Candida species can cause invasive fungal diseases, such as disseminated infection and pneumonia, they rarely cause tracheobronchitis, which is often fatal. To identify the clinical characteristics of Candida tracheobronchitis, we retrospectively evaluated 8 patients who had pathologically proven Candida tracheobronchitis. Their median age was 64 (range: 51-70) years and 5 were females. ⋯ Candida tracheobronchitis can present as both localized and diffuse types. While the former was influenced more by loco-regional mucosal damage, the latter was influenced more by the patient's immune status. The treatment outcomes were especially poor in patients with diffuse tracheobronchitis.
