Observational Study
The prognostic evaluation of CA19-9, D-dimer and TNFAIP3/A20 in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
This study aimed to explore the significance and prognostic value of serum tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), D-dimer, and tumor necrosis factor alpha-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3/A20) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Our study included 148 patients treated for PDAC at Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital Affiliated to Yangzhou University from January 2012 to December 2016. Cutoff prognostic values were predicted using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. ⋯ Kaplan-Meier curves showed that PDAC patients had significant differences in CA19-9, D-dimer, and TNFAIP3/A20 expressions (P < .05). CA19-9, D-dimer, TNM stage, tumor differentiation grade, and TNFAIP3/A20 were independent prognostic markers for PDAC in univariate and multivariate COX analyses. CA19-9, D-dimer, and TNFAIP3/A20 were found to be independent prognostic markers for PDAC patients.

To explore the accuracy and security of 3-dimensional (3D) printing technology combined with guide plates in the preoperative planning of thoracic tuberculosis and the auxiliary placement of pedicle screws during the operation. ⋯ The 3D printing technology combined with guide plate is used in thoracic spinal tuberculosis surgery to effectively reduce the amount of bleeding, shorten the operation time, and increase the safety and accuracy of nail placement.

Coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP) is a coronary artery disease in which coronary angiography shows no obvious stenosis, but there is a delay in blood flow perfusion. The etiopathogenic mechanisms of CSFP are still unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of clinical characteristics in patients with CSFP, and to provide a reference for exploring the potential mechanisms of CSFP. ⋯ Multivariate analysis showed that monocyte count, haemoglobin, serum creatinine and globulin were independent predictors of CSFP. Moreover, the monocyte count, haemoglobin, creatinine and globulin levels were significantly higher in the CSFP patients than the controls, with positive associations between these parameters and the extent of CSFP. In addition, ROC analysis showed the diagnostic value of the above indexes for CSFP.

Biportal endoscopic spine surgery (BESS) is extending its application to most kind of spine surgeries. Postoperative spinal epidural hematoma (POSEH) is one of the major concerns of this emerging technique. Through this study we aim to investigate the incidence of POSEH in BESS comparing to a conventional spine surgery (CSS). ⋯ In BESS subgroup analysis, the risk factor of high grade POSEH was bilateral laminectomy (OR = 8.893, P = .023). The incidence of clinical and morphometric POSEH was higher in BESS. In BESS, POSEH developed more frequently in bilateral laminectomy than unilateral laminectomy.

Severe neonatal Marfan syndrome with a novel mutation in the intron of the FBN1 gene: A case report.
Marfan syndrome (MFS) has been defined as a genetic disorder that affects various systems such as the musculoskeletal, orbital, and cardiovascular systems. Neonatal MFS is considered rare and the most severe form of MFS is characterized by rapidly progressive atrioventricular valve dysfunction, often leading to death during early childhood due to congestive heart failure. ⋯ This review demonstrated the prominent characteristics of neonatal MFS mutations, it would be helpful for the recognition of novel neonatal MFS variants and valuable for the understanding of the genotype-phenotype correlations and using the plans for managements and counseling in neonatal MFS.
