To investigate the relationship between visual resolution and cone parameters in eyes with different levels of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). Seventeen eyes of 10 volunteers with BCVA of 20/12.5 or better (group 1) and 16 eyes of 10 volunteers with BCVA of 20/16 (group 2) were investigated in the study. Images of the cone photoreceptors at 1.5° from the fovea were obtained using an adaptive optics (AO) retinal camera. ⋯ In the stepwise regression analysis, greater angular cone density (odds ratio [OR], 4.48; P = .005) and smaller angular cone spacing (OR, 0.60; P = .007) at 1.5° from the fovea were significantly associated with the better BCVA. The greater cone density and smaller cone spacing at the parafovea were found in eyes with BCVA of 20/12.5 or better, as compared to that in eyes with BCVA of 20/16. Knowledge of cone distribution for different BCVA levels may be beneficial for different clinical conditions.

Menstruation is an important indicator of women's health. Identification of abnormal menstrual patterns in adolescence may improve early diagnosis of potential health concerns in adulthood. This study aimed to evaluate menstrual patterns and disorders of Chinese women of reproductive age based on an APP. ⋯ The use of a mobile APP is an emerging approach for collecting big data in the field of health research. The results showed that the prevalence of menstrual disorders among Chinese reproductive women was high. Healthcare providers should educate girls and their caregivers about menstrual physiology, normal menstrual pattern, and reproductive health to prevent long-term diseases.

Nasal foreign bodies in children are common complaints encountered by pediatric otolaryngologists. We investigated clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of nasal foreign bodies in children in a Chinese metro area. Six hundred sixty eight children with nasal foreign bodies presented to Shenzhen Children's Hospital, diagnosed and treated by the authors were enrolled from January 2016 to October 2019, causes for medical consultation, age, sex, duration, types, locations, removal, and complications were recorded and analyzed. ⋯ The majority of nasal foreign bodies (99.1%) located in the antero-inferior portion of the nasal cavities and could be removed with simple instruments. The occurrence of complications in nasal foreign bodies (10.2%) was not common. The present study objectively exhibited clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of nasal foreign bodies in a Chinese metro area.

Immune checkpoint inhibition has dramatically altered the therapeutic landscape in the treatment of a range of locally advanced and metastatic skin cancers. In particular, the treatment of metastatic melanoma with combined anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (anti-PD1) and anti-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (anti-CTLA4) antagonists has resulted in median 5-year survival rates of over 50%. However, combined immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy frequently results in the development of immune-related adverse events (irAE) which can be severe and life-threatening. While the typical irAEs, namely colitis, thyroiditis, and hepatitis are well recognized, cutaneous irAEs are varied and can be difficult to accurately diagnose. ⋯ Cutaneous irAEs are varied in nature and severity. Sclerotic skin changes are rare, but unlike cutaneous irAEs related to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, they are often refractory to standard treatment with systemic corticosteroids. Clinicians should be aware of immunotherapy-related scleroderma to prompt dermatological evaluation to facilitate early recognition and initiate treatment. Administration of systemic immunosuppression should be carefully balanced against the risk of promoting melanoma progression.

Musculoskeletal disorders gradually affect workers in different parts of the world, compromising their occupational health and quality of life. Professionals exposed to these symptoms include the motorcycle taxi driver, whose pain is due to the overuse of the musculoskeletal system and little time to recover it. To identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in motorcycle taxi drivers in the city of Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil, West Amazon. ⋯ In the lower limbs, the most affected joint was the ankle (5.7%), followed by the hip (5.07%) and knee (5.07%), respectively. Insomnia was present in 55.35% and self-reported headache in 49.4% of participants. The musculoskeletal disorders generated by the daily service of motorcycle taxi drivers are directly affecting the quality of life of these professionals.
