Observational Study
Clinical study of herbal mixture "Diding Oral Medicine" as an alternative to preventative antibiotics in perioperative hemorrhoids: A CARE-compliant article.
To study the clinical effects of Diding Oral Medicine as an alternative to preventative antibiotics in perioperative hemorrhoids. From August 2017 to February 2018, a total of 214 patients who were treated with external exfoliation and internal ligation of mixed hemorrhoids in our hospital were divided into the control group and experimental group by way of stratified random (107 cases in each group). Patients in the control group were given antibiotics preventatively before operation, while patients in the experimental group took Diding Oral Medicine before operation, and the white blood cell count, neutrophil count, wound recovery, pain score, anal bulge score, and pathogen culture of wound secretions were compared between the 2 groups. ⋯ The pain score and anal bulge score of the experimental group were decreased significantly compared to the control group (P < .05). In addition, the detection rate of pathogenic bacteria in the experimental group was downregulated significantly compared to the control group (P < .05). The Diding Oral Medicine has prominent bacteriostatic and antibacterial effects on patients with hemorrhoids during perioperative period, and promotes wound healing, reduces pain stress, and anal bulge.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients suffer from anxiety, depression, and sleep disorder due to isolation treatment and other reasons. Whether life interventions can be an alternative therapy for COVID-19 patients, accompanied with anxiety, depression, and sleep disorder, is controversial. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis and systematic review to evaluate the effects of life interventions on anxiety, depression, and sleep disorder in COVID-19 patients to provide some guidance for clinical application. ⋯ CRD42020199802.

Sepsis is a worldwide health problem that is a leading cause of mortality due to infection. Sepsis is prevalent in infections that are complicated with organ failure. Generally, sepsis is intricate and impaired corticosteroid metabolism leads to complex outcomes. Therefore, the provision of corticosteroids could lead to improved clinical outcomes. The effect of corticosteroids therapy in adult patients with sepsis is not well studied. Therefore, this study is an attempt to evaluate the efficacy of corticosteroids for treating adult cases of sepsis. ⋯ March 28, 2021.osf.io/tm6sw. (https://osf.io/tm6sw/).

Case Reports
Sarcomatoid carcinoma associated with chronic empyema and early lung and pleural metastases: A case report.
The relationship between chronic empyema and malignant tumors, most of which are lymphoma, has been recognized for many decades. Sarcomatoid carcinoma associated with chronic empyema is extremely rare, may metastasize to other organs in the early stage, and rapidly progresses to death. As far as we know, this was the first case report on sarcomatoid carcinoma associated chronic empyema. ⋯ Sarcomatoid carcinoma can occur very rarely as a complication of chronic empyema, and is more aggressive than usual. Early detection of developing malignancy during the follow-up of chronic empyema is an important factor for patient prognosis.

Comparative Study
Comparison of efficacy and safety of complementary and alternative therapies for scapulohumeral periarthritis: A protocol for Bayesian network meta-analysis.
Scapulohumeral periarthritis is a disease with high incidence and great pain. The current western treatments with many side effects, poor efficacy cannot fundamentally solve the problem. Complementary and alternative therapies have played an excellent role in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis. However, it is not clear which complementary and alternative therapy is more effective. Therefore, we propose a protocol to compare the efficacy and safety of various complementary and alternative therapies through network meta-analysis (NMA) to provide choice guidance for the therapy. ⋯ Complementary and alternative therapies of scapulohumeral periarthritis plays a positive role in improving the symptoms of scapulohumeral periarthritis.
