Observational Study
Cross-sectional assessment of sleep and fatigue in middle-aged Japanese women with primary Sjogren syndrome or rheumatoid arthritis using self-reports and wrist actigraphy.
To investigate fatigue, health-related quality of life (HR-QOL), and sleep quality in women with primary Sjogren syndrome (pSS) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as compared with healthy controls using self-reports and wrist actigraphy. In this cross-sectional observational study, we evaluated a total of 25 patients (aged 40-75 years) with pSS, 10 with RA, and 17 healthy control subjects living in Japan. The HR-QOL was assessed using the Short Form-36. ⋯ Notably, the patients with RA and healthy controls did not differ significantly in terms of fatigue or sleep quality, although patients with RA experienced more nocturnal awakenings than healthy controls (1.7 vs 0.9, P = .04). Patients with pSS experience severe fatigue, poor HR-QOL, and sleep disturbances, which are associated with fatigue. However, wrist actigraphy did not reveal differences in sleep quality, suggesting that it may not be an appropriate measure of sleep in patients with pSS.

Meta Analysis
Xuesaitong injection treating acute myocardial infarction: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Although the incidence of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is decreasing, the mortality in AMI patients remains substantial. Traditional Chinese medicine has shown its role in the prevention and management of AMI. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xuesaitong injection (XST) for the treatment of AMI by a meta-analysis. ⋯ XST combined with conventional treatment can achieve better efficacy on clinical performance and some of the AMI related parameters. However the interpretation of the results should be cautious, due to the relatively low quality of included trials. More rigorously designed, large-scaled, randomized controlled trials are warranted to support its clinical use in the future.

The risk of fall seriously affects the health and quality of life of the middle-aged and elderly people, especially the injury and disability caused by fall of the middle-aged and elderly people, which imposes a huge burden on family and social medical care. Baduanjin exercise may be an effective intervention to enhance the muscle strength and stability of lower limbs, improve the balance ability and gait of middle-aged and elderly people, reduce the incidence of falls, improve the quality of life, and promote the health of middle-aged and elderly people. The aim of this study is to summarize evidence and systematically review the efficacy and safety of Baduanjin on the fall and balance function in middle-aged and elderly people. ⋯ Ethics approval is not required for systematic review, since it does not infringe on personal interests. The results will be submitted to peer-review journals or disseminated at scientific conferences.

Meta Analysis
Prognostic value of pretreatment anemia in patients with soft tissue sarcoma: A meta-analysis.
Anemia is one of the most common manifestations in patients with cancer. Recently, multiple studies have shown a positive correlation between pretreatment anemia and tumor prognosis. Yet, the relationship between pretreatment anemia and the prognosis of soft tissue sarcomas (STS) is unclear. ⋯ Our results suggest that pretreatment anemia may be a prognostic biomarker for STS.

Alpha-adrenergic blockers are commonly used as a medical expulsive therapy (MET) for patients with ureteral calculi. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alpha-adrenergic blockers compared with a placebo when used as a MET. ⋯ Although α-blockers cannot improve the overall ureteral stone clearance rate, these drugs are still effective for the treatment of stones in the distal urinary tract. However, the application of α-blockers is likely to cause dizziness and/or retrograde ejaculation.
