Immediate family support is important to discharge home for cancer patient with bone metastasis after rehabilitation: A retrospective study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the predictive factors of home discharge for rehabilitation patients with cancer bone metastasis. Cancer patients with bone metastasis who underwent rehabilitation between April 2014 and March 2017 were retrospectively enrolled. Data on discharge destination were collected from medical records as outcomes. ⋯ There were no skeletal-related events among these patients during their hospital stay. The receiver-operating curve for the predictive factors for home discharge of the Barthel Index at admission, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status at admission, and number of immediate family members living at home were 60 points (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.74, sensitivity = 0.6400, 1-specificity = 0.2766), 2 score (AUC = 0.65, sensitivity = 0.5400, 1-specificity = 0.2222), and 1 family member (AUC = 0.65, sensitivity = 0.9592, 1-specificity = 0.7222), respectively. In order to plan for cancer patients with bone metastasis to be discharged home, it is important to take into consideration the patients' Barthel Index and Performance Status at the time of hospital admission and the number of immediate family members living at home.

In newborns, propofol anesthesia is commonly utilized. Propofol is increasingly being shown to be effective and safe in treating procedural sedation and anesthesia in neonates. This research aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of propofol in neonates using systematic review and meta-analysis methodologies. ⋯ Our findings will give strong data for determining whether propofol is an effective treatment for procedural anesthesia in neonates.

To compare the patients' outcomes of Asherman syndrome who underwent uterine adhesiolysis in luteal phase or follicular phase. A retrospective cohort study. A tertiary hospital in China. ⋯ Pregnancy rate was acquired by questionnaires 3 months after a second-look hysteroscopy. OLP has advantages with thicker luteal endometrium (P = .001), higher pregnancy rates (P < .001), and lower re-adhesion rates (P = 0015) compared to these values of OFP. For Asherman syndrome, our study showed that OLP is more feasible than OFP in intrauterine adhesiolysis.

This study was performed to determine whether red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with 3-month poor functional outcome in patients undergoing thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke. RDW was measured in patients with thrombolytic therapy in emergency department. Functional outcome was assessed after 3 months and poor functional outcome was defined as modified Rankin scale 3 to 6. ⋯ The area under the curve for RDW was higher in male patients than in female patients. The RDW correlated positively with the modified Rankin scale score after 3 months and the initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score. Initial higher RDW level is related to a 3-month poor functional outcome in patients undergoing thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke.

Demographic profile and outcome of patients admitted to a COVID dedicated hospital in Bangladesh during the second wave.
In December 2019, with pneumonia-like clinical manifestations, a new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 emerged and quickly escalated into a pandemic. Since the first case detected in early March of last year, 8668 have died with an infection mortality rate of 1.52%, as of March 20, 2021. Bangladesh has been struck by the 2nd wave from mid-march 2021. ⋯ Intensive care unit utilization rate was 25%, and a half of the patients had 51% to 70% tomographic lung involvement with an overall mortality rate of 19.3%. Older age, chronic renal disease, percentage of lung involvement, and intensive care unit necessity were important mortality determinants. The present study gives an insight into the demographic profiles and outcomes of admitted patients with COVID-19 during the second wave at a covid dedicated hospital in Bangladesh.
