Prognostic value of pretreatment anemia in patients with soft tissue sarcoma: A meta-analysis.
Anemia is one of the most common manifestations in patients with cancer. Recently, multiple studies have shown a positive correlation between pretreatment anemia and tumor prognosis. Yet, the relationship between pretreatment anemia and the prognosis of soft tissue sarcomas (STS) is unclear. ⋯ Our results suggest that pretreatment anemia may be a prognostic biomarker for STS.

Investigation of combined treatment of acupuncture and neurofeedback for improving cognitive function in mild neurocognitive disorder: A randomized, assessor-blind, pilot study.
Mild neurocognitive disorder (MND) is an intermediate state that can progress to dementia, and the cognitive reserve of MND is an important task in preventing dementia. Acupuncture and neurofeedback (NF) training have been used to improve cognitive function and treat MND or dementia, but their effectiveness remains controversial. In this trial, we will evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined NF-acupuncture treatment in comparison with single acupuncture treatment. ⋯ We will evaluate the effectiveness and safety of combined NF-acupuncture therapy, and expect that it will serve as the basis for the use of NF together with acupuncture in the clinical setting.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the short-term outcomes surrounding the efficacy and complication rate between different modalities of pyloromyotomy and gastric electrical stimulation (GES) in the treatment of gastroparesis. ⋯ We conducted a detailed comparison of 3 modalities of pyloromyotomy and GES in the treatment of gastroparesis, with the results suggesting that double POP demonstrated better clinical success with similar recurrence and complication rates. In addition, GES may result in more recurrence amongst these interventions.

Alpha-adrenergic blockers are commonly used as a medical expulsive therapy (MET) for patients with ureteral calculi. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alpha-adrenergic blockers compared with a placebo when used as a MET. ⋯ Although α-blockers cannot improve the overall ureteral stone clearance rate, these drugs are still effective for the treatment of stones in the distal urinary tract. However, the application of α-blockers is likely to cause dizziness and/or retrograde ejaculation.
