Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (HNL) is a rare, benign, and self-limiting inflammatory disease that mainly involves the lymph nodes. There is a lack of large sample studies concerning the clinical manifestations and imaging features of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) of HNL. The clinical symptoms, laboratory examination results, 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging features, and treatment outcome were investigated in this retrospective study. ⋯ Scanning with 18F-FDG PET/CT showed that most patients had multiple involved lymph nodes that were hypermetabolic, and only few lymph nodes are enlarged. Besides, the spleen or central and peripheral bone marrow could sometimes be hypermetabolic. Glucocorticoid treatment for the HNL patients is effective.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening condition that remains challenging for physicians despite several advances in supportive care. Etiologies vary worldwide, with herpes simplex virus (HSV) hepatitis representing less than 1% of cases. Despite its low incidence, ALF is a lethal cause of acute necrotizing hepatitis and has a high mortality. Early antiviral treatment is beneficial for survival and decreased liver transplantation necessity. However, plasmapheresis, despite its theoretical potential benefit, is scarcely reported. ⋯ ALF is a life-threatening condition, and HSV as an etiology must be suspected based on background, clinical manifestation, and laboratory information. The potential role of plasmapheresis in HSV hepatitis should be considered.

Carrelizumab combined with anlotinib in the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer: A case report.
The emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors has brought new breakthroughs in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Programmed cell death-ligand 1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy have been approved for the first-line treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). However, programmed death 1 inhibitors have limited efficacy in the treatment of SCLC. The reason may be related to the abnormal vascular state in the tumor microenvironment. ⋯ In this case, antiangiogenesis combined with programmed death 1 inhibitors significantly inhibited tumor progression. It also indicated that anlotinib concurrent carrelizumab may be a superior choice for ES-SCLC. Further clinical trials required to confifirm its effificacy and safety.

To investigate the difference in chorioretinal microcirculation between acute central serous chorioretinopathy (aCSC) and chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC) using optical coherence tomography angiography. In total, 65 patients previously diagnosed with central serous chorioretinopathy (33 aCSC and 32 cCSC) were included in our cross-sectional study. All patients underwent complete ophthalmologic assessment including logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity, fundus fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography angiography. ⋯ Further analysis of the data reveals the presence of a distinct choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in 8 patients (25%) with cCSC while there was no evidence of CNV in patients with aCSC. Our study can contribute to a better understanding of the difference in retinochoroid microcirculation between aCSC and cCSC. The vessel density of inner retina was lower and the vessel density of superficial choroid was higher in cCSC, and patients with cCSC were more susceptible to CNV than patients with aCSC.

We retrospectively investigated the natural course of hemoglobin (Hb) level after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and identified the benefit of tranexamic acid injection at the operation field for unilateral TKA patients who have not received blood transfusions. There were 115 cases conducted by a surgeon who performed TKA without injecting tranexamic acid and 62 cases by another surgeon with injection. During 2-weeks of hospitalization, Hb level was checked on the day of surgery and 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 days after surgery. ⋯ In post hoc test, the differences from preoperative Hb levels were significantly lower at all measurements in surgeon with injection of tranexamic acid. When deciding whether to transfuse after TKA, it should be noted that the patient tends to show the lowest Hb level on postoperative day 3. Also, the authors emphasize that tranexamic acid injection in the joint at the operation field is an effective method to reduce the loss of Hb after TKA.
