Migraine is a primary headache disorder that causes debilitating throbbing pain. Several functional MRI (fMRI) and voxel-based morphometry (VBM) studies have been used to investigate the structural and functional alteration in migraine. Here, we aim to study the converged brain regions of functional and structural abnormalities in gray matter volume (GMV) associated with pain processing and management in migraineurs and healthy controls (HC). ⋯ Our findings represent a potential biomarker for the diagnosis and management of migraine, by showing clustered brain regions of abnormal patterns of activation and GMV changes between migraineurs and HC which might be associated with hyposensitivity to pain in migraineurs. Further studies are required to determine disease progression or therapeutic interventions' effect on migraine.

In recent years, many studies have found possible links between gene polymorphisms and venous thromboembolism (VTE). By identifying genetic risk factors before facing environmental risk factors such as surgical interventions and COVID-19 vaccination, we could rapidly respond to the risk of VTE. The aim of this study was to perform an umbrella review of genetic variants related to VTE. Integrative gene analysis of VTE was performed to identify critical genetic variations. ⋯ The present study performed a systematic review of genetic variants associated with VTE. Our results could lead to a more comprehensive understanding of VTE etiology. These results could give a strategy of prediagnosis about evaluating individual risks of VTE who might be exposed to environmental risk factors.

Human chorionic gonadotropin elevation in gliomatosis peritonei complicated with immature teratoma: A case report and review of the literature.
Gliomatosis peritonei (GP) refers to the implantation of glial tissue on the visceral and parietal peritoneal surface, often associated with immature teratoma. It is a rare condition and the pathogenesis is not fully understood. In addition, the indistinguishable radiological appearance of immature and mature teratomas, and limited pathology samples make an accurate diagnosis difficult in most cases. More importantly, patients are also at risk of recurrence after surgery. This report aims to describe the process of diagnosis and treatment of GP with immature teratoma. ⋯ The case illuminated that the primary diagnosis of GP complicated with immature teratoma is critical but highly challenging for both gynecologists and pathologists and more attention should be paid to "GP complicated with immature cystic teratoma" patients to avoid inappropriate treatment.

Although ultrasound (US) guided axillary vein (AV) catheterization has been well described, evidence for its efficacy and safety compared with conventional infraclavicular landmark guided subclavian vein (SCV) cannulation have not been comprehensively appraised. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine whether US guided AV catheterization reduces catheterization failures and adverse events compared to SCV puncture based on landmark technique. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicates that US guided AV catheterization reduces catheterization failures and mechanical complications compared with conventional landmark guided SCV puncture.

As the most common long-term complication of herpes zoster (HZ), postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is characterized by chronic, persistent, and debilitating neuropathic pain. PHN seriously harms human health and currently becomes a topic of clinical importance. To date, the common methods of pain management in PHN include external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine and surgical treatments. However, there is no high-quality or direct evidence of their comparative effectiveness. This review aims to provide a network meta-analysis to compare the efficacy of external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine and surgical treatments in the pain management of PHN. ⋯ The results will systematically provide suggestions for medical practitioners to choose effective, time-saving and economical pain management method for PHN.
