Case Reports
Triphalangeal thump, thumb duplication, and syndactyly: The first case report in the literature.
Triphalangeal thumb (TPT) is a rare congenital malformation where the thumb has three phalanges instead of two. Syndactyly is a condition in which children are born with fused or webbed fingers. The combination of TPT, Syndactyly, and thumb duplication is extremely rare, especially when these deformities are combined in one hand. ⋯ General and plastic surgeons should be aware about this unusual mix of the three abnormalities. The family history must also be carefully investigated to explore the occurrence of hereditary illnesses.

Behçet's disease (BD) is an autoimmune disease presented with recurrent oral aphthous ulcers, genital ulcers, uveitis and skin lesions. The cutaneous manifestations are often refractory and more resistant to conventional therapy. This report provides a new treatment of low-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) with refractory BD patient. ⋯ low-dose IL-2 is a safe and effective treatment for refractory BD.

There is a lack of evidence and consensus in terms of the association between dietary intake of sodium (Na) and potassium (K) with mental health. By using 24-hours urinary samples as the gold standard method, we conducted a study to explore the association between dietary intake of Na and K with parameters of mental health including depression, anxiety, and stress among an Iranian population diagnosed with migraine. In the present study, 262 subjects (20-50 years old), with a confirmed diagnosis of migraine were enrolled. ⋯ After adjustment for confounders, those in the highest tertile of the 24-hour urinary Na/K ratio had lower odds for having depression (OR = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.31, 0.93; P = .027), and marginally significantly lower risk of anxiety (OR = 0.58, 95% CI: 0.31, 1.06; P = .079) and stress (OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.31, 1.02; P = .061). In conclusion, higher 24-hour urine Na was associated with a significantly lower risk of depression. Moreover, the 24-hour Na/K ratio was significantly associated with lower risk of depression, anxiety, and stress.

Ustekinumab is effective against ulcerative colitis with intestinal stenosis: A case report.
Intestinal stricture and obstruction are rare complications of ulcerative colitis (UC). Currently, there are only a few studies on the treatment of UC with intestinal stenosis, however there are no reports on the treatment of UC with benign intestinal stenosis with ustekinumab (UST). ⋯ UST is effective against UC with benign intestinal stenosis. It is thought that UST inhibits the production of transforming growth factor-β and interleukin-17, leading to the suppression of myofibroblast proliferation, ultimately alleviating intestinal stenosis.

Isolated myeloid sarcoma with pericardial and pleural effusions as first manifestation: A case report.
Myeloid sarcoma (MS) involves the proliferation of extramedullary blasts from 1 or more myeloid lineages, replacing the original tissue structures, and these neoplasias are called granulocytic sarcoma, chloroma, or extramedullary myeloid neoplasms. These tumors develop in lymphoid organs, bones, skin, soft tissues, various mucous membranes, organs, and the central nervous system. MS is rare in non-leukemic patients, while MS patient with effusion as the first manifestation is even rare. ⋯ The early manifestations of the patient lacked specificity and were highly susceptible to misdiagnosis. Cytomorphology and flow cytology indicated important directions for the diagnosis of the disease in the early stage. Administration of chemotherapy regimen containing cytarabine could prolong disease-free survival and time before progress to AML.
