To construct and verify a novel prognostic model for thyroid cancer (THCA) based on N7-methylguanosine modification-related lncRNAs (m7G-lncRNAs) and their association with immune cell infiltration. ⋯ Our results will help identify high-risk or low-risk patients with THCA and facilitate early prediction and clinical intervention in patients with high risk and poor prognosis.

Quantifying the breadth of antibiotic exposure in sepsis and suspected infection using spectrum scores.
A retrospective cohort study. Studies to quantify the breadth of antibiotic exposure across populations remain limited. Therefore, we applied a validated method to describe the breadth of antimicrobial coverage in a multicenter cohort of patients with suspected infection and sepsis. ⋯ Increased Spectrum Scores were associated with inpatient mortality, even after covariate adjustments (adjusted odds ratio per 10-point increase in Spectrum Score 1.31; 95%CI 1.29-1.33). Spectrum Scores quantify the variability in antibiotic breadth among individual patients, between suspected infection and sepsis populations, over the course of hospitalization, and across infection sources. They may play a key role in quantifying the variation in antibiotic prescribing in patients with suspected infection and sepsis.

Risk factors for in-hospital systemic thromboembolism in myocardial infarction patients with left-ventricular thrombus: A multicenter retrospective study.
Left-ventricular thrombus (LVT) is a potentially life-threatening disease. However, few studies have explored the risk factors of in-hospital systemic thromboembolism (ST) in LVT patients. In this multicenter retrospective study, we enrolled myocardial infarction patients with LVT from January 2008 to September 2021. ⋯ Comparable baseline characteristics were established between the ST and non-ST groups, except for the heart failure classification (P = .014). We obtained the following results from our multivariable analysis, based on the use of HFrEF as a reference: HFpEF [odd ratio (OR), 6.2; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.4-26.3; P = .014] and HFmrEF (OR, 5.0; 95%CI, 1.1-22.2; P = .033). In conclusion, HFpEF, and HFmrEF may be independent risk factors for in-hospital ST development.

Phacolytic glaucoma is a rare complication induced by hypermature cataracts and may occasionally be encountered in some rural areas. It tends to be misdiagnosed and induces a risk of permanent vision impairment. ⋯ Phacolytic glaucoma can mimic endophthalmitis and tend to be misdiagnosed, causing permanent vision impairment. Improving awareness of phacolytic glaucoma and enhancing public health education regarding cataracts are ways to prevent phacolytic glaucoma and phacolytic glaucoma-related vision loss.

The beneficial effects of dietary β-carotene and vitamin A on Parkinson disease (PD) have been confirmed, but some studies have yielded questionable results. Therefore, this meta-analysis investigated the effect of dietary β-carotene and vitamin A on the risk of PD. ⋯ Dietary β-carotene intake may have a protective effect against PD, whereas dietary vitamin A does not appear to have the same effect. More relevant studies are needed to include into meta-analysis in the further, as the recall bias and selection bias in retrospective and cross-sectional studies cause misclassifications in the assessment of nutrient intake.
