Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) has became 1 of most prevalent bone disorders with aging population. Liuwei Dihuang (LWDH) Pill, a classical kidney-tonifying prescription, is extensively used to treat PMOP in China. The aim of this study is to explore the pharmacological mechanisms of LWDH Pill against PMOP via network pharmacological strategy. ⋯ Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis revealed several pathways, such as PI3K-AKT pathway, mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, hypoxia-inducible factors-1 pathway, tumor necrosis factor pathway, interleukin-17 (IL-17) pathway and FoxO pathway that might be involved in modulating the above BP. Through network pharmacological approach, we investigated the potential therapeutic mechanism of LWDH Pill against postmenopausal osteoporosis in a systemic perspective. These identified multi-targets and multi-pathways provide promising directions for further revealing more exact mechanisms.

A comparative investigator-initiated pilot study on the efficacy and safety of biodegradable microneedle acupuncture and conventional intradermal acupuncture for dry eye patient: A superiority, assessor-blinded, randomized controlled trial.
The prevalence of dry eye, which is a common lacrimal disease, is steadily increasing in modern society. However, fundamental treatment for it has not yet been established. This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of a novel medical device, the biodegradable microneedle acupuncture (BMA), using a traditional intradermal acupuncture needle as the control acupuncture for dry eye. ⋯ The findings of this study on the efficacy and safety of the BMA would be helpful for patients with dry eye in clinical practice. Further, these results would provide for the foundation of a large-scale BMA study.

Cognitive behavioral therapy for challenges to quitting tobacco smoking among social science and religion students.
Tobacco smoking is a public health issue. The aim of this investigation was to determine the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on the disputation of challenges to quitting tobacco smoking among students enrolled in the Social Science and religious Education programmes. ⋯ Therefore, this study suggests that CBT intervention is a time-effective treatment method for disputation of challenges to quitting tobacco smoking among students enrolled in the Social Science and Religious Education Programmes.

Recurrent bowel disease (RBD) refers to the chronic, recurrent intestinal diseases, including recurrent Clostridium Difficile Infection (rCDI), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc., these diseases have similar clinical characteristics, that is, abdominal pain, diarrhea, repeated attacks, prolonged recovery, etc. Clinically, there are relevant reports on the use of oral capsule fecal microbiota transplantation (oFMT) to treat RBD. However, both the advantages and disadvantages of clinical efficacy have been reported; there are some contradictions, the study sample size is too small, and the purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral capsule fecal microbiota transplantation in the treatment of RBD. ⋯ This systematic review evaluated the efficacy and safety of oFMT in the treatment of RBD to provide more comprehensive evidence.

Red man syndrome (RMS) is an adverse effect of vancomycin that usually occurs within minutes to tens of minutes after infusion. Previous literature reported that RMS rarely occurs again after the infusion speed is controlled. ⋯ We reported a patient repeatedly developed fever and even shock when the infusion speed is normal, which was rare and similar as anaphylaxis. Therefore, the progression of RMS and its differentiation from allergy need to be further studied.
