Case Reports
Posterior cerebral artery embolism resulting in bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction: A case report.
Bilateral thalamic infarcts are not easily recognized, it have diverse clinical manifestations and relatively severe symptoms. It may leave long-term drowsiness, cognitive impairment, and speech impairment. We report a case of bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction with impaired consciousness as the main symptom. The digital subtraction angiography suggested that the left superior cerebellar artery and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) were occluded. ⋯ Recurrent lethargy in patients after endovascular treatment may be a clinical manifestation of damage to thalamic structures or due to the presence of ineffective recanalization.

Although anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory measures have delayed the progression of ulcerative colitis (UC) to a certain extent, the adverse drug reactions and recurrence after recovery still trouble clinicians. Acupoint catgut embedding is a possible alternative strategy for the treatment of UC, but its clinical efficacy remains controversial. Therefore, this study systematically evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of acupoint catgut embedding compared with conventional western medicine in the treatment of UC. ⋯ The clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of UC is superior to that of conventional western medicine, and the safety may be equivalent to that of conventional western medicine, which has the value of further research and exploration.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a common cause of death worldwide and heart failure (HF) is the main complication. Although the increase in percutaneous coronary intervention and drug treatment can reduce in-hospital mortality after AMI, the incidence of HF after AMI and the resulting risk of death are still rising, which causes difficulties in the rehabilitation of AMI patients after reperfusion. ⋯ This study will provide an important basis for the application of traditional Chinese medicine in patients with AMI after reperfusion and provide an evidence-based basis for the prevention and treatment strategy of HF after AMI.

Observational Study
Content validity of the comprehensive home fall hazard checklist, an observational study.
One strategy to reduce the number of falls in older adults is through home hazards assessment checklists. The comprehensive home fall hazard checklist (CHFHC) was designed to guide individuals through their home, assessing fall hazards. The checklist systematically prompts the individuals to check 10 general locations in the house The purpose of this study was to assess the content validity of the comprehensive home fall hazard checklist. ⋯ All of the items were ranked as being quite clear or highly clear, with all items receiving at least 0.78 on the content validity index. The Kappa score indicates expert agreement. The content validity index was determined to be excellent, with high ratings for both relevance and clarity for 71 of 74 items on the CHFHC.

Nasal douching or irrigation has been recommended for adjunctive therapy of sinonasal diseases including allergic rhinitis (AR) for many years. Previous study reported large-volume high-pressure device as an effective standard application, but the solutions was remains controversy. This study systematically review the clinical efficacy of nasal irrigation with various solutions for adults with AR from medical literature. ⋯ The results of the systematic review will summarize the efficacy of various nasal irrigation for adults with AR, so it can be used as clinician recommendation.
