To systematically evaluate the general efficacy of nape acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training for the treatment of post-stroke dysphagia and in the recovery of swallowing function. ⋯ This Meta-analysis suggested that nape acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training is more effective in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke than rehabilitation alone.

Ankylosing spondylitis disease activity and serum vitamin D levels: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To prove that serum vitamin D (VD) levels are strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) disease activity, the association between serum VD levels and key monitoring indicators of AS disease activity has been analyzed, such as the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C-reactive protein (CRP). ⋯ The findings of our meta-analysis demonstrated a negative correlation between serum VD levels and the main monitoring indices of disease activity in patients with AS and verified that the differences in the continent and ethnicity may be one of the major contributors to this finding.

Two systematic reviews summarized the efficacy and safety of pharmacological prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism (VTE) after hepatic resection, but both lacked a discussion of the differences in the pharmacological prophylaxis of VTE in different ethnicities. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) or unfractionated heparin (UFH) for VTE prophylaxis in Asian and Caucasian patients who have undergone hepatic resection. ⋯ This study's findings indicate that the application of UFH or LMWH for VTE prophylaxis after hepatic resection is efficacious and safe in Asians and Caucasians. It is necessary for Asians to receive drug prophylaxis for VTE after hepatic resection. This study can provide a reference for the development of guidelines in the future, especially regarding the pharmacological prevention of VTE in different ethnicities.

Efficacy of ginseng oral administration and ginseng injections on cancer-related fatigue: A meta-analysis.
Up to 90% of patients who are under the active treatment suffer from cancer-related fatigue (CRF). CRF can persist about 10 years after diagnosis and/or treatment. Accumulating reports support that ginseng and ginseng injections are both potential drugs for the treatment of CRF but few studies put them together for analysis. ⋯ Ginseng can improve CRF. Intravenous injection might be better than oral administration. Ginseng injections may alleviate cognitive fatigue. No evidence was found to support that ginseng could alleviate emotional fatigue.

Review Case Reports
Parathyroid adenoma presenting as chronic pancreatitis: A case report and literature review.
Most patients with parathyroid adenomas are asymptomatic and rarely present with chronic pancreatitis (CP). Several studies have reported a positive association between primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and pancreatitis. Parathyroidectomy is the definitive treatment for PHPT. IV bisphosphonates can be considered the drug of choice for bridge to surgery. ⋯ CP is a rare manifestation of parathyroid adenoma. When patients with a history of recurrent pancreatitis, without common causes of pancreatitis, present persistent elevated serum calcium levels, PHPT could be suspected.
