Large-scale vaccination against the spread and mutation of COVID-19 is being implemented in many countries. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of certain vaccines (87.35% inactivated), mainly Sinovac - CoronaVac and Sinopharm (Beijing) - BBIBP-CorV, during the Omicron BA.2 pandemic by cross-sectional study. The study was conducted in a cabin hospital of Shanghai, China. ⋯ Adjusting for gender and age, Covid-19 vaccine effectiveness of Omicron BA.2 at the specific level was 87.42% (95% confidence interval [CI], 72.35-94.28, P < .0001), and 62.65% (95% CI, 1.47-85.84, P = .047) in the unstandardized vaccinated and the standardized vaccinated group, respectively. Covid-19 vaccine effectiveness of Omicron BA.2 was not apparent at the general level but remained effective for the specific symptom. Further development for the Covid-19 vaccine is necessary.

Hemosuccus pancreaticus (HP) is a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding that sometimes leads to life-threatening conditions. However, the diagnosis of HP is often delayed due to its rarity and intermittent signs of bleeding, making it challenging to determine the source of bleeding in some patients. ⋯ HP should be considered by endoscopists during the differential diagnosis of intermittent upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with a history of pancreatitis. A multidisciplinary team approach is an effective method to determine the source or location of bleeding, which may reduce mortality and morbidity by avoiding additional pancreatectomies.

Lysine succinylation is a novel, broad-spectrum, dynamic, non-enzymatic protein post-translational modification (PTM). Succinylation is essential for the regulation of protein function and control of various signaling and regulatory pathways. It is involved in several life activities, including glucose metabolism, amino acid metabolism, fatty acid metabolism, ketone body synthesis, and reactive oxygen species clearance, by regulating protease activity and gene expression. ⋯ Many studies have confirmed that succinylation plays a role in tumorigenesis by creating tissue heterogeneity, and can promote or inhibit various cancers via the regulation of different substrate targets or signaling pathways. The mechanism of action of some antineoplastic drugs is related to succinylation. To better understand the role of succinylation modification in cancer development and treatment, the present study reviewed the current research content and latest progress of succinylation modification in cancer, which might provide a new direction and target for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Pilonidal sinus is a common disease in the sacrococcygeal region. Although many treatments have been described in recent years, the recurrence of each method remains high. Surgeons did not reach a consensus on the preferred approach for pilonidal sinus. We carried out a meta-analysis of controlled clinical trials comparing the outcomes of endoscopic treatment versus conventional treatment for pilonidal sinus disease in this study. ⋯ Endoscopic pilonidal sinus treatment is a unique and potential method of sacrococcygeal pilonidal disease treatment. The foremost benefits of this technique are mild postoperative pain, lower complications rate, and return to routine for a shorter time. However, due to the limited number of articles, we need to conduct more rigorous large-sample prospective randomized controlled trials to clarify the efficiency of endoscopic treatment for pilonidal cysts.

Review Case Reports
Surgical treatment of recurrent postoperative discal pseudocyst: A case report and literature review.
Postoperative discal pseudocyst (PDP) is rare. Few studies have reported on the recurrence of PDPs, and there is a lack of understanding of their clinical features and treatment methods. This study discusses the clinical characteristics and treatment of recurrent PDPs. ⋯ PDP is a rare complication of lumbar discectomy. Repeat lumbar discectomy can effectively treat PDP, but the cyst can recur. We, for the first time, used posterior instrumented lumbar fusion to successfully treat recurrent PDP.
