Staphylococcus aureus nasal colonization is a seriously opportunistic infection. However, there is a lack of research of relationship between antibiotics and S aureus colonization in the general population. Through a cross-sectional investigation, this study intends to establish the parameters related to S aureus nasal colonization, specifically the function antibiotics play in colonization. ⋯ On the other hand, regarding MRSA colonization, fluoroquinolone use, long-term care, and former smoker were positively associated with MRSA colonization, while high income was negatively associated with MRSA colonization. More proper use of broad-spectrum antibiotics contributes to reducing MSSA colonization. Former smokers should also practice better personal hygiene to limit the possibility of MRSA colonization.

A consensus exists that the first author and corresponding author make the most contribution to the publication of an article. The Y-index has been proposed to assess the scientific achievements of authors, institutions, and countries/regions (AIC/R for short) based on the number of first-author publications (FPs) and corresponding-author publications (RPs). Nonetheless, the Y-index is defined in terms of count and radian (represented by j and h) instead of using the relative radius and angle degree to simplify understanding. In the literature, a method for drawing radar diagrams online with the Y-index is also lacking. This study was conducted to enhance the Y-index with an additional relative radius denoted by k and the angle degree represented by h* (named Yk-index), include easy-to-use features (e.g., copying and pasting) for the delivery of the online Radar-Yk, and identify which one of AIC/R contributed the most to a scientific journal. ⋯ A breakthrough was achieved by developing the online Radar-Yk to show the most contributions to Medicine (Baltimore). Visualization of Radar-Yk could be replicated for future academic research and applications on other topics in future bibliographical studies.

Serum kisspeptin levels in deep-infiltrating, ovarian, and superficial endometriosis: A prospective observational study.
The diagnosis of endometriosis may delay for many years due to non-deterministic symptoms and avoiding surgical interventions. Kisspeptins are hormones that interact with endometrial tissue to limit invasions during placentation and various cancers and are suggested to be also associated with endometriosis. This study evaluated if serum kisspeptin levels are associated with the invasion depth in endometriosis. ⋯ Serum kisspeptin levels were significantly different between endometriosis patients and healthy controls. However, kisspeptin levels were unable to differentiate endometriosis severity. Our results suggest that kisspeptins might play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, which needs further assessment in more comprehensive studies.

WTAP and N6-methyladenosine (m6A) reader proteins (YTHDF2) are N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase and m6A reading proteins, respectively. In recent years, the tumor immune environment has received more and more attention in the progress and treatment of cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase (WTAP)/YTHDF2 and the immunological characteristics of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). ⋯ Cluster 1 had stronger immune infiltration, more ICIs target expression, more TMB. In addition, WGCNA identified 22 genes associated with WTAP/YTHDF2 expression and immune score, including TIM3 (HAVCR2) and CD86. WTAP and YTHDF2 influence immune contexture and may be novel prognostic and druggable targets associated with the immune system of LUAD.

Gender-affirming surgery (GAS) is among the most rapidly growing and expanding subfields in plastic surgery due to increased awareness, decreased stigma, rising demand, and improved access for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals (TGNC). In order to address potential barriers and facilitators in GAS education and training, there is a need to explore the experiences of TGNC individuals. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively explore the factors that influence TGNC patient experiences in surgical consultation for GAS. ⋯ Our findings provide important insight into this often stressful and challenging process. Ensuring a welcoming, safe, and gender-affirming environment and experience for these individuals is essential. These findings may help to guide future education for medical students, trainees, clinic staff, and surgeons, as well as to direct changes necessary to improve the patient experience in clinics and hospitals for TGNC individuals undergoing consultation for GAS.
