Gender-affirming surgery (GAS) is among the most rapidly growing and expanding subfields in plastic surgery due to increased awareness, decreased stigma, rising demand, and improved access for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals (TGNC). In order to address potential barriers and facilitators in GAS education and training, there is a need to explore the experiences of TGNC individuals. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively explore the factors that influence TGNC patient experiences in surgical consultation for GAS. ⋯ Our findings provide important insight into this often stressful and challenging process. Ensuring a welcoming, safe, and gender-affirming environment and experience for these individuals is essential. These findings may help to guide future education for medical students, trainees, clinic staff, and surgeons, as well as to direct changes necessary to improve the patient experience in clinics and hospitals for TGNC individuals undergoing consultation for GAS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Liangxue Jiedu Runzhi ointment in the treatment of mild and moderate psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome: A double-blind randomized controlled trial.
Psoriasis is a kind of chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by erythema, skin hyperplasia, scales and keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Psoriasis Vulgaris, the most common kind of psoriasis, severely deteriorates the life quality of patients. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a good choice for the treatment of psoriasis, which has been proved to be safe and effective, and may reduce the recurrence rate. In clinical practice, Liangxue Jiedu Runzhi (LJR) ointment can effectively treat mild and moderate psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome, but there is a lack of evidence-based medical evidence. This trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LJR ointment for the treatment of mild and moderate psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome. ⋯ LJR ointment was proved to have efficacy in the treatment of mild and moderate psoriasis with the blood-heat syndrome.

Review Case Reports
Nerve root compression due to lumbar spinal canal tophi: A case report and review of the literature.
Gout in the spine and adnexa is rare in clinical practice and can also be easily misdiagnosed, we reported a patient with nerve root compression due to lumbar gout stones in the lumbar spinal canal. ⋯ The incidence of lumbar gout is low and relatively rare in the clinic and pathological biopsy is still the gold standard. Vertebral plate incision and decompression are often selected for surgical treatment, and whether to perform fusion should be comprehensively considered for the destruction of vertebral bone by gout and the reasonable selection of the extent of surgical resection. Whether choosing surgical treatment or conservative therapy, the control of uric acid levels should be emphasized.

The value of single-port totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair (STEP) when compared to the conventional multi-port approach (TEP) is still a matter of controversy. We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials comparing the feasibility and safety of the above-mentioned techniques. ⋯ Current evidence suggests that patients who underwent STEP had similar outcomes to the traditional TEP technique with the exception of time to return to everyday activities, which was reported to be shorter in the STEP group.

Elevated triglycerides (TG) and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) are recognized as essential and independent hazard factors for total death and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). However, whether the increased TG/HDL-C forecasted the prognosis of CHD is still unknown. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between the elevated TG/HDL-C ratio and poor prognosis of CHD. ⋯ In patients with CHD, the present study showed that the high TG/HDL-C was associated with increased risk of long-term all-cause mortality and MACE.
