Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) is a disorder of bone metabolism caused by estrogen deficiency in women after menopause, which manifests clinically as pain, spinal deformities, and even fragility fractures, affecting the quality of life of patients and possibly shortening their life span. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (BZYQD) has been widely used in clinical practice and achieved good results. But there is no high-level evidence to support this result. The aim of this study is to evaluate BZYQD's efficacy and safety in the management of PMOP. ⋯ The study provides a trustable clinical foundation for BZYQD in the treatment of PMOP.

Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum infections after knee arthroplasty: A case report.
Artificial joint infection caused by Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum is rare and has not been reported. ⋯ M hominis and U urealyticum are common pathogens of the urinary system infections but they are rare in osteoarticular infections. In cases of fever, swelling and heat pain around the surgical site, joint fluid, negative blood culture and being irresponsive to anti-bacterial agents against the cell wall, special bacteria-related infection should be highly suspected.

Effects of midazolam co-induction to general anesthesia: A randomized clinical trial.
This study aimed to determine the potential advantages of midazolam co-induction with general anesthesia (GA) over the use of propofol alone. ⋯ Midazolam co-induction prevented a marked decline in SAP/MAP/DAP immediately after induction of GA, led to reduced postoperative anxiety and cortisol response to surgery, and reduced propofol requirements for induction.

Metabolic disorder is globally prevalent in children and adolescents, and physical activity may have a protective role against metabolic disorder. However, the association between metabolic equivalent (MET) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) among children and adolescents remains unclear. This study aimed to address this concern. ⋯ A linear downward trend was found in the restricted cubic spline regression (overall P < .05). Interaction effect analysis revealed no significant effects of age, gender, race, income poverty ratio, and insurance (all P for interaction >0.05). High physical activity intensity is associated with decreased VAI scores in children and adolescents.

Comparison of the synergistic effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on muscle relaxant vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery.
Sevoflurane and desflurane are commonly used inhalation anesthetics in clinical practice. This study compared the synergistic effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on the muscarinic agent vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. The aim of this study was to compare sevoflurane and desflurane in a synergistic effect on the muscle relaxant vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. ⋯ The dosage of vecuronium was statistically significantly less than that in the sevoflurane group (P < .05); the extubation time in the desflurane group was statistically significantly longer than that in the sevoflurane group (P < .05). There were no significant differences in preoperative and intraoperative mean arterial pressure, heart rate, ephedrine and atropine dosage, MMSE score, and Aldrete score between the 2 groups (P > .05). Compared with sevoflurane, desflurane has a stronger synergistic effect on the muscle relaxant of vecuronium without increasing the incidence of cardiovascular adverse reactions and affecting patient recovery.
