Comparison of the synergistic effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on muscle relaxant vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery.
Sevoflurane and desflurane are commonly used inhalation anesthetics in clinical practice. This study compared the synergistic effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on the muscarinic agent vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. The aim of this study was to compare sevoflurane and desflurane in a synergistic effect on the muscle relaxant vecuronium in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. ⋯ The dosage of vecuronium was statistically significantly less than that in the sevoflurane group (P < .05); the extubation time in the desflurane group was statistically significantly longer than that in the sevoflurane group (P < .05). There were no significant differences in preoperative and intraoperative mean arterial pressure, heart rate, ephedrine and atropine dosage, MMSE score, and Aldrete score between the 2 groups (P > .05). Compared with sevoflurane, desflurane has a stronger synergistic effect on the muscle relaxant of vecuronium without increasing the incidence of cardiovascular adverse reactions and affecting patient recovery.

In modern society, the incidence of diabetes is increasing year by year. Most individuals pass through a phase of prediabetes before developing full blown diabetes. Acupuncture-related has been widely used in the treatment of diabetes, but there is no systematic review of acupuncture-related on the control of blood glucose in prediabetes. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a meta-analysis of the clinical efficacy of acupuncutre-related therapy in preventing the development of diabetes in patients with prediabetes. ⋯ The purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the effect of acupuncture- related techniques on blood glucose in patients with prediabetes, and to provide more methods for clinical prevention of conversion from prediabetes to diabetes.

The purpose of this study was to identify the criteria for atlantoaxial (AA) fusion by comparing follow-up lateral radiographs and computed tomography (CT) images. We retrospectively analyzed data from 161 consecutive patients undergoing AA fusion. Patients with a minimum of 1 year of CT follow-up after AA fusion surgery using C2 pedicle screws or translaminar screws (C2TLS) were included. ⋯ C2TLS placement had a significantly higher incidence of screw halos. However, the halo sign was not significantly related to final bone fusion. Bone fusion could be predicted when the SA gap of C1-2 was less than 2.62° on the dynamic radiograph.

Metabolic disorder is globally prevalent in children and adolescents, and physical activity may have a protective role against metabolic disorder. However, the association between metabolic equivalent (MET) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) among children and adolescents remains unclear. This study aimed to address this concern. ⋯ A linear downward trend was found in the restricted cubic spline regression (overall P < .05). Interaction effect analysis revealed no significant effects of age, gender, race, income poverty ratio, and insurance (all P for interaction >0.05). High physical activity intensity is associated with decreased VAI scores in children and adolescents.

As an antiemetic, 5-hydroxytryptamine type 3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonist (ramosetron) is generally administered to prevent and treat postoperative nausea and vomiting induced by intravenous dezocine for patient-controlled analgesia. To date, the physicochemical stability of dezocine-ramosetron admixtures has not been assessed. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical stability of a combination of dezocine and ramosetron in 0.9% sodium chloride (normal saline [NS]) injections. ⋯ After 14 days at 4 °C or 25 °C, the concentration losses of dezocine and ramosetron were both < 4%. Furthermore, there were no significant changes in color, turbidity, or pH values were observed in any of the batches. The results indicated that mixtures of dezocine and ramosetron in NS injections were continuously physically and chemically stable for 14 days in glass bottles or PVC bags stored at 4 °C or 25 °C.
