Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that involves multiple systemic organs. Bushen Huoxue Method (BSHXM) is a traditional Chinese medicine treatment, which is used for the treatment of SLE combining with cyclophosphamide. However, no systematic review has been performed to describe its effectiveness. This study provides a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis of currently published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) reporting the combination of BSHXM and cyclophosphamide for the treatment of SLE, thus providing evidences to support clinical practice. ⋯ This study will provide a strong basis for the effectiveness and safety of the combination of BSHXM and cyclophosphamide on the treatment of SLE.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy, secondary to diabetes, is the main cause of death in patients with diabetes. In China, traditional Chinese medicine has achieved good performance in treating diabetic cardiomyopathy. However, to date, no systematic review or meta-analysis has been published on the treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy by traditional Chinese medicine. ⋯ The results of this study provide evidence-based medical evidence for the clinical use of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of diabetic heart disease in the future.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is intimately linked to chronic stress. Meditation programs belong to mind-body therapies, which could benefit patients' disease management. Though some clinical trials have proved that meditation programs have the ability to improve level of blood glucose quality of life, body mass index and blood indexes related to metabolism in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the efficacy of meditation programs needs further confirmation. Thus we will conduct this systematic evaluation and meta-analysis to summarize and analyze all the results included to obtain reliable evidence. ⋯ This systematic review is the first to analyze the efficacy of different types of meditation for type 2 diabetes mellitus, which could provide evidence for the use of mediation programs as non-drug approaches.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a hereditary and progressive renal disease. By the age of 65 years, 45% to 70% of patients with ADPKD reach end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Although there are various treatments for this condition, no standard therapy exists to delay the progression of ADPKD. ⋯ The mean duration from diagnosis to RRT was 110.8 ± 93.9 months. Age at diagnosis after 30 years (odd's ratio [OR], 2.737; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.320-5.675; P = .007), baseline serum creatinine levels (OR, 1.326; 95% CI, 1.259-1.396; P < .001), and cyst infection (OR, 2.065; 95% CI, 1.242-3.433; P = .005) were the independent risk factors for kidney failure in multivariable analysis. To delay the advance of ADPKD to ESRD, early diagnosis and close observation for the onset of cyst infection are crucial.

Threatened miscarriage (TM) is an important factor endangering the health of pregnant women. It not only affects women's physical and mental health, but also destroys family happiness. To treat this disease, it is necessary to find a treatment with better clinical efficacy and fewer side effects. The purpose of this systematic study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of phloroglucinol (PHL) combined with progesterone in the treatment of TM before 20 weeks of pregnancy. ⋯ This study provides reliable evidence for the clinical application of PHL combined with progesterone for the treatment of TM.
