Neurally mediated reflexes can induce cardiac arrest during head and neck surgery through mechanisms including direct vagal stimulation, trigeminocardiac reflex, and baroreceptor reflex. Balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube (BDET) is a safe procedure without serious complications, including cardiac arrest. ⋯ BDET, previously known to be a relatively safe procedure, induces asystole via balloon dilation. It is thought to be a neurally mediated vagal reflex, and both anesthesiologists and otologic physicians should pay proper attention to monitoring during the procedure.

Preeclampsia (PE), defined as new-onset hypertension and multi-organ systemic complication during pregnancy, is the leading cause of maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. With extracellular vesicles research progresses, current data refers to the possibility that ferroptosis may play a role in exosomal effects. Evidence has suggested that ferroptosis may contribute to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia by bioinformatics analyses. ⋯ We constructed a regulatory network of miRNA-hub gene and the findings demonstrate that hsa-miR-26b-5p, hsa-miR-192-5p, hsa-miR-124-3p, hsa-miR-492, hsa-miR-34a-5p and hsa-miR-155-5p could regulate most hub genes. In this study, we identified several central genes closely related to ferroptosis in STB-EVs (ALB, NOX4, CDKN2A, TXNRD1, and CAV1) that are potential biomarkers related to ferroptosis in preeclampsia. Our findings will provide evidence for the involvement of ferroptosis in preeclampsia and improve the understanding of ferroptosis-related molecular pathways in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.

An individual's research domain (RD) can be determined from objective publication data (e.g., medical subject headings and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms) by performing social network analysis. Bibliographic coupling (such as cocitation) is a similarity metric that relies on citation analysis to determine the similarity in RD between 2 articles. This study compared RD consistency between articles as well as their cited references and citing articles (ARCs). ⋯ RD consistency was confirmed by comparing the main MeSH terms in ARC. The 3 approaches of RD determination (based on author articles, the La index, and the impact beam plots) were recommended for bibliographical studies in the future.

The effect of transpyloric enteral nutrition on inflammatory response and prognosis for patients with Corona Virus Disease-19 in intensive care unit: A STROBE compliant study.
To investigate the effect of transpyloric enteral nutrition (TEN) on NLRP1, inflammatory response and prognosis for patients with Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) in intensive care unit (ICU). The present prospective observational study included 29 cases of COVID-19 patients in ICU who admitted to our hospital during February 2020 to March 2020. All the patients were divided into gastrogavage groups (n = 16) and TEN group (n = 13) according to route of enteral nutrition. ⋯ A positive correlation was found among NLRP1 and inflammatory factors, and COVID-19 patients with lower NLRP1 had longer survival time. Serum NLRP1 also exhibited diagnostic value for the death of COVID-19 patients. TEN decreased inflammatory response and improved the prognosis for COVID-19 patients in ICU.

At present, there is no systematic study on the signature of long-chain noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) involved in metabolism that can fully predict the prognosis in patients with low-grade gliomas (LGGs). Therefore, consistent metabolic-related lncRNA signatures need to be established. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) was used to identify the expression profile of lncRNAs containing 529 LGGs samples. ⋯ GO and KEGG analysis showed that metabolism-related lncRNAs was mainly concentrated in the pathways related to tumor metabolism. In order to find a more stable and reliable target for the treatment of LGG, we established 19 metabolic-related lncRNAs prognostic model, and determined that it can predict the prognosis of LGG patients. This provides a new solution approach to the poor prognosis of patients with LGG and may reverse the trend of LGG's transformation to high-grade gliomas.
