Case Reports
Persistent severe muscle pain following mistakenly injected high-dose bee venom: A care-compliant case report.
In clinical practice, bee venom injection into acupuncture points is used to relieve various types of musculoskeletal pain. In the current study, we describe a patient who had persistent severe muscle pain caused by mistakenly injected high-dose bee venom. ⋯ Bee venom has a strong toxic effect; therefore, only a minimal dose of diluted bee venom should be administered for musculoskeletal pain control. Special caution is required during bee venom injection to avoid excessive doses of bee venom.

Whether ursolic acid is an effective drug in treatment of osteoporosis (OP) and how it exhibit activity effect on OP is unclear. To investigated the potential molecular mechanism of ursolic acid in the treatment of OP and figured out its possible mechanism is necessary. The target genes of ursolic acid were screened by using the database of traditional chinese medicine systems pharmacology, PubMed database and UniProt database. ⋯ The therapeutic effect of ursolic acid on OP may be achieved by regulating TP53, JUN, IL6, VEGFA, CASP3, and MAPK8 genes, respectively. It exhibits possible biological function in the treatment of OP mainly involve positive regulation of apoptotic process, response to drug, incytoplasm, cytosol, protein binding, identical protein binding. Its mechanism may related to multiple therapeutic targets and signaling pathways such as cancer pathway, hepatitis B, and TNF signaling pathway.

Because of their strong anti-cancer efficacy with fewer side effects, traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) have attracted considerable attention for their potential application in treating breast cancer (BC). However, knowledge about the underlying systematic mechanisms is scarce. Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino (GP), a creeping herb, has been regularly used as a TCM to prevent and treat tumors including BC. ⋯ In addition, chemical constituents and potential target proteins were scored, followed by a comparison with the ligands of the protein. We provide a network of pharmacology-based molecular mechanistic insights on the therapeutic action of GP against BC. We believe that our data will serve as a basis to conduct future studies and promote the clinical applications of GP.

The competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) and tumor-penetrating immune cells may be related to the prognosis of oral cancer. However, few studies have focused on the correlation between ceRNAs and immune cells. Thus, we developed a method based on a ceRNA network and tumor-infiltrating immune cells to elucidate the molecular pathways that may predict prognosis in patients with oral cancer. ⋯ T cells regulatory and CGNL1 (R = 0.39, P < .001) showed a significant positive correlation. External data set validation also supports this result. In this study, we found that some crucial ceRNAs (GGCT, TRPS1, CGNL1, HENMT1, LCE3A, S100A8, ZNF347, TMEM144, TMEM192) and immune cells (T cells regulatory and Eosinophils) may be related to the prognosis of oral cancer.

Observational Study
The use of the time-to-event index (Tevent) to compare the negative impact of COVID-19 on public health among continents/regions in 2020 and 2021: An observational study.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, how to measure the negative impact caused by COVID-19 on public health (ImpactCOV) is an important issue. However, few studies have applied the bibliometric index, taking both infected days (quantity) and impact (damage) into account for evaluating ImpactCOV thus far. This study aims to verify the proposed the time-to-event index (Tevent) that is viable and applicable in comparison with 11 other indicators, apply the Tevent to compare the ImpactCOVs among groups in continents/countries in 2020 and 2021, and develop an online algorithm to compute the Tevent-index and draw the survival analysis. ⋯ The Tevent-index is viable and applicable to evaluate ImpactCOV. The time-to-event analysis as a branch of statistics for analyzing the expected duration of time until 1 event occurs is recommended to compare the difference in Tevent between groups in future research, not merely limited to ImpactCOV.
