Unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) is a major surgical technique used to treat degenerative lumbar diseases. The UBE technique has the advantages of flexible operation, high efficiency, and a large observation and operation space. ⋯ Therefore, it is necessary to reduce complications by familiarity with the anatomy of the lumbar spine. Based on the UBE technique, this review article provides historical and current information on the anatomical structures of the lumbar vertebrae, such as the articular process, pedicle, lamina, ligamentum flavum, nerve root, intervertebral disc, and artery supply.

Although the combination of blood-activating herbs and western drugs has shown advantages in the treatment of ischemic stroke, there is no consensus on the safety and efficacy. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the safety and efficacy of the combination of blood-activating herbs with edaravone (EDA) in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). ⋯ This study will clarify the safety and efficacy of the combination of blood-activating herbs with EDA in the treatment of AIS.

Quality of life (QoL) has been acknowledged as a fundamental concept in the field of health and is favorably improved by physical activity (PA). This systematic review aims to assess the benefits and harms of different types of PA to improve health-related QoL in both community-dwelling and diseased older adults to provide a recommendation for the minimum amount of PA needed to obtain measurable QoL benefits. ⋯ This review does not require approval from the Ethics Committee. The results will be disseminated in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences; moreover, the findings will be shared on social media using an accessible language.

Due to neuronal destruction caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, exposure to neuronal surface antigens may lead to an imbalance in immune tolerance, which in turn triggers an autoimmune response. In addition, due to the involvement of nonspecific B-cell activation or molecular mimicry, EBV and Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) receptors may have common epitopes. Viral infection triggers activation of B-cell and cross-reaction with viral antibodies, resulting in autoimmune encephalomyelitis. The clinical presentation may be complex or even atypical. A small number of patients may develop autoimmune reactions. ⋯ EBV encephalomyelitis is a rare clinical disease. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the early diagnosis and treatment of similar patients to avoid misdiagnosis. CSF tests, genetic tests, and imaging tests can confirm the diagnosis.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an acute respiratory infectious disease that makes breathing difficult and is often accompanied by olfactory disorders and distension. Chinese herbal tonics, a special external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, has shown beneficial effects in the treatment of olfactory disorders. Currently, there is a lack of systematic reviews on Chinese herbal tonics for the treatment of olfactory disorders. We conduct this study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal tonics in the treatment of olfactory disorders. This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbal tonics for olfactory disorders in COVID-19. ⋯ This study aimed to prove the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal tonics for olfactory disorders in patients with COVID-19. Our study provides a more accurate treatment method for olfactory disorders during COVID-19.We will publish our results in a peer-reviewed journal.
